Tony Curtis died this morning. Sad news to wake up to.

~~~~~~~~~~
No mice again this morning! Yay!
I'm so tired and woke up with a stiff neck. I think it's a remnant of my fall at Betty's the other day. I must have jarred it. My knees are better. Bruise is almost gone.
~~~~~~~~~~
3pm
I thought I would never get home. I'm so tired. I'm going to be dragging at the yard sale ...

Elder's Meditation of the Day - September 30
"Don't be afraid to cry. It will free your mind of sorrowful thoughts."
--Don Talayesva, HOPI
Human beings function from choice. We can choose to stuff things, or we can choose to let go of things. If we choose to stuff things, then we will feel a heaviness, or sorrow, self pity or fear. Sometimes we feel the need to cry. Sometimes we are taught it is not okay to cry. The creator designed the human being to cry. Crying is a release. This release allows us to let go of thoughts that are not helping us so we can open to new thoughts that will help. Crying is natural for women and men.
Grandfather, if I need to cry, let me realize it's a natural process and help me to let go.

My neck is still killing me. Hope it clears up overnight.

Interesting article. I've been thinking of upping my folate recently. I think I will start checking prices and ingredient panels.

I thought this was hilarious:

~~~~~~~~~~
8am
I am not looking forward to working today. Going to be another hot one out there. I have about 8 projects in 1 store and will be there about 5+ hours ... and have another store, too.
~~~~~~~~~~
3pm
I'm so exhausted. Five hours in 1 store today. 8 projects. Too much.
~~~~~~~~~~
4pm
My mom's fan fried itself ... Made a funky noise, smoked and stopped turning. It's sitting out on the porch now until I'm sure it's not going to burn. Will put it in the garbage in the morning. It's 102F now ... wish this little heatwave would end.
~~~~~~~~~~
It's nearly 7pm and still 98F! I hope the weather starts cooling a bit for Friday & Saturday or I'm going to die doing this yard sale!
~~~~~~~~~~
I really hate my mom. There is no more ice cream. Once again she's finished something off without telling me.
~~~~~~~~~~
Criminal Minds is really good tonight, but the reasoning behind JJ leaving makes absolutely no sense. Michael Welch was really good in it.

Damn. The stupid Brown/Whitman debate is happening in Davis today at the Mondavi Center. So, I can't take that freeway that passes right by it. The traffic will be ridiculous. I'll be taking old Poleline Road, instead. I have 2 stores to service there. Will make a stop at the Davis Food Co-op while I'm over there. Need to pick up some swap items for a prize basket.

September 27, 2010

8am
Been trying to figure out which share gadget to use on this blog that will post to twitter and email. There are too many to choose from. Will work on that later. Need to find breakfast and then load the car up. No mice today!
My mom got 2 more tomatoes off the plants. I think the red tomatoes are nearly done, but the white tomatoes are getting a lot of fruit. None ripe yet, but getting there.
~~~~~~~~~~
3pm
Been home a while and haven't really done much. Fell at Betty's and bruised my kneecaps and scuffed up my best pair of pants. Will have to get another pair Sunday when we go shopping. My ankle hurts too. Did get my store serviced and bought some more swaps and a few groceries.
The new neighbors still seem to have a water problem. Plumber is there now.
Have 2 stores to service tomorrow & a project in both. So, may be all day.
~~~~~~~~~~
Just spent the past few hours sorting & packaging swaps to mail tomorrow. Also, made address labels for the swapees. It's helping me get practice on sizing the images on the tiny labels. They are turning out great, I think. And, most of these images I've saved for future sales.

September 26, 2010

8am
No mice for a week, I think. Wonderful!
Need breakfast. Out of cereal. Will have last apple/pecan bar, I guess.
After I ride my bike to the mailbox, I need to load the car up with some yard sale bins to take over to Betty's for next weekend's yard sale.
Sounds like my load of laundry is ready for the dryer now.
~~~~~~~~~~
I swear, everything is coming due this month ... my Magic Jack yearly fee, several other bills, my PandoPro membership, one of my websites, my truck registration ... they think I'm made of money ... and I'm late paying my cable tv/internet for the first time in years! I need my oil royalty check now!!
~~~~~~~~~~
9am
Spoke to soon. Caught a mouse ... will have to release it on my way to Betty's this morning.
~~~~~~~~~~
11am
Took 4 bins and a bunch of other stuff over to Betty's. Will take another bin and stuff and the tables over there tomorrow before work.
My mom is going through her kitchen gadget drawers and getting more stuff for the yard sale.
~~~~~~~~~~
My neighbor, Martin stopped me before I left and told me he's decided to buy my truck!!!! He'll start making payments on Tues. This is great!
~~~~~~~~~~
We have a heat alert for today. It's supposed to get to about 100F. So, I won't be getting anything done outside today. I think I will be clearing/straightening my closet out. There are a few bins in the craft room of antiques that I want to put in there. Two of them are old photos. Two are just old stuff of Papa's and old cameras that I don't want to get rid of right now. Plus, I need to get the antique coffee table out of there, so I can start sanding it and repair it. That's next after I am done sanding the shutters.
~~~~~~~~~~
Great. There's a new worm going through Twitter today ... some people are just too immature.
~~~~~~~~~~
Time for lunch. Having tofurky sandwich. And, some yogurt.
Then, I will go through the gadgets my mom pulled for the yard sale before I start working in my closet.
~~~~~~~~~~
Wow. I made some headway in clearing more space in the craftroom and rearranging my closet. I got 4 bins to fit in there. Next I will be sorting the stuff on the upper shelf and putting some things in Spacebags. Most of which may go under the bed and out of the way! Also found a lot more stuff for the yard sale!
~~~~~~~~~~
4pm
I am worn out. Got everything done and found yet more things for the yard sale. Yay! Hope we make good money like we did in the last one. Have to put the online ads up in a couple days. Just wrote it on my calendar!
~~~~~~~~~~
I've come to the conclusion that some people just should never touch a computer. There are some people in groups I am in that are truly STUPID! I'm reading these conversations & not getting in them. I would say something mean. OMG! These are adults?

September 25, 2010

8am
Woke up at a fairly decent time this morning, but I'm still feeling tired. Need food. Guess I will have my favorite cereal - Kashi Strawberry Fields with Silk Vanilla Soy Milk. There is just not enough in the box! I run out of it too quickly. But, at least it doesn't get stale.

Dr. Weil has a really good article on the corn sugar debate:

~~~~~~~~~~
No mice again today. That's ... at least 5 days, I think! Yay!
11am
Just finished working outside for about an hour and a half after riding my bike to the mailbox. I got more goodies from my swap groups. Big package of different colored embroidery floss I wished for, a cinnamon candle and a funky pen. Fun stuff! Better than bills!! Then I set up my new recycle area under the carport. Much better than having them inside the laundry room. Then about an hour of digging. Hope to finish that area tomorrow. Going to rest for a while and play with some jigsaw puzzles before lunch.
~~~~~~~~~~
5pm
I got some reading done out on the porch, some shutter sanding and some cross-stitching done earlier. Now, I am finally getting back into working on my CafePress website. I'm trying to get all my Stargate images tagged for the new SGU portal and re-loading a few of my old images that got blocked a few years ago. I'll link to them later in this post.
Time to fix dinner now. Having organic eggs, hash browns and English muffin bread. Good stuff.

There are a few more designs that I need to do something to re-instate the images and hope to have them done next week. I think it may be a problem with the font I used, but they were some of my most popular designs before they got pulled ... And, of course there are a lot of new products that I should add to these designs in the future.
Just tweeted various products from those designs from both my main Twitter account and my QuinGem's Creations account.

September 24, 2010

5 AM
No blog yesterday. I was too exhausted. So exhausted I couldn't sleep! I've been up since 1 AM!
But, I've been busy. I installed my Avery software program and will be starting to sell address labels soon. Just have to buy some more packs of labels next week. They will be $2.50/sheet, including shipping. There are 30 labels per sheet. I'll post a list of current designs available and contact/payment info soon.
~~~~~~~~~~
If you are interested in trading coupons through snail mail, contact me at quingem@gmail.com
~~~~~~~~~~
I bought a Cricut Trimmer yesterday. I already like it. Making some friendship books right now.
~~~~~~~~~~
I'm really losing the enjoyment of the YahooGroups I own/mod again. I really should leave them, but I keep getting pulled back in. And, then the bullshit starts all over again ...
~~~~~~~~~~
7am
Got Jorgy out of bed. At least she got some sleep. Fish are up. Doves are up. I wish I wasn't ...
~~~~~~~~~~
Having an organic egg scrambled with Cascadian Farms Country Style Potatoes. Yum.
~~~~~~~~~~
9am
Rode my bike to the mailbox. Got 1 of my swap wishes for embroidery thread! Yay. Those are keepers!
~~~~~~~~~~
11am
Whew! Did some gardening. Weeded all the invasive little allysum seedlings in the front gardens. Deadheaded the wildflowers and cut down the holly that didn't make it. And, tied up the bouganvillea that is growing lots of branches. That's all I'm doing outside today, I think. Now I have to decide what to make for lunch.
~~~~~~~~~~
I found the old birth announcement I made for Ebony's 2nd litter (back in August, 1989). It is a drawing of Ebony with a witch's hat on, play-bowing in front of a Jack O'Lantern. I'm going to use the image to make Hallowe'en cards. Just have to touch it up.
Check this out. It turned out great! It printed perfectly, too.
~~~~~~~~~~
I wanted to read out on the porch, but first the HS band was practicing on the street behind us. Then the neighbor started power washing his trailer again. Should have been finished with it days ago!
So, had to come in, close the doors and windows and turn on the air to drown out the noise ...
~~~~~~~~~~
3pm
Great. Dozing in my chair. Haven't done that in ages.
~~~~~~~~~~
6PM
Having a yummy Bellwether Farms Sheep Milk Vanilla Yogurt with added ground pecans.
September 22, 2010
No mice again!
I am going to start to get serious about making some more money online. I've got all these sites set up and have really ignored them badly the past year ... my Amazon sales have plummeted. Need to pick them back up. Need to get some crafts made to put on Etsy. Need to start advertising my Cafe Press site again, too ... haven't made any new graphics for that site in ages.
~~~~~~~~~~
4pm
It's been a lazy day today. I serviced one store and did some shopping at Trader Joe's. Just been doing group maintenance and playing on the computer since I got home. I've been researching making my own stationery/envelopes and really think I am going to try doing this. I have everything to do it, except the deckle frame. I think I'm going to try lavender-scented when I start. Hope to get a frame next week, or make one. I also think I will get a couple of edging scissors and a trimmer.
~~~~~~~~~~
I'm going to start making address labels, too. I've had all the software and labels for years. Just never bothered using all of it. I just need to make some room on this computer this week. I'm back down to under 20GB again! Going to remove a bunch of graphics right now!
~~~~~~~~~~
I have a toothache in a dead tooth. Hate when that happens ... probably trying to get an abcess. Must remedy that ...
~~~~~~~~~~
I can't believe it! The chocolate bar I bought for a swap melted in the car trunk ... have to find another swap to replace that tomorrow. Something that won't melt ...
~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I eliminated or moved nearly 10GB of crap from this computer. I bought more ink today, so I am set to start making labels! Just need to get my butt in gear and figure out the software again.
But, right now, I am going to get ready to watch the season 6 premiere of Criminal Minds!!

September 21, 2010

Great. Twitter is having a security flaw this morning! Have to run my anti-spam, etc. Pain in the butt.
Another day with no mice. Is wonderful!
It's too early to be up and eating breakfast. My mom better get up soon. It's her appt. I'm up early for ...
Need to buy some notecards for birthday cards. Want to find an assorted pack. Wonder if Dollar Tree or Big Lots has them ...
Just downloaded Seesmic Look. Will use until Twitter.com gets the hacker problem solved. Used to use Seesmic, but don't like it for viewing Tweets, but will have to for a while.
~~~~~~~~~~
Well, that was a fairly quick appt. A little over an hour. I should be able to get some things done in the yard today!
~~~~~~~~~~
Only did about 30 min. of pulling weeds and plastic netting today. That sun really beats down on that side of the house.
Going to make some apple pecan bars now! It seems like I haven't baked in ages!
~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, I'm all for the new neighbors fixing things up. But, why do you need a noisy machine to spray the cobwebs off your house? I just use my hose sprayer. Quick, easy & QUIET! I had to close the house up and can still hear it! Gonna get hot in here when I turn the oven on ... :(
~~~~~~~~~~
2pm
Took me forever, but I finally have the bars in the oven! 30 minutes and I can find out if they are good or not!
~~~~~~~~~~
I think Twitter may be working right again. I hope so. I don't like Seesmic. I like tweeting direct from the website.
~~~~~~~~~~
The apple/pecan bars are soooo yummy! I gave some to the neighbors since I was torturing them with the baking smells. They loved them, too. I will save this recipe to make again.
~~~~~~~~~~
Garbage disposal is clogged from too many apple skins. Resting from my fight with it. Letting the vinegar and baking soda do its work.
Made a strawberry/banana smoothe with protein powder and lemonade. Made my mom drink some, too.
~~~~~~~~~~
Made black bean bisque for dinner. My mom ate some of that. She's still bleeding a bit where the tooth was pulled this morning.
~~~~~~~~~~
I want to start making my own paper and envelopes. Trying to decide what to get together first. I think I need to put together a deckle box first. I have the screen, but need the frames the right size. Will have to look through all my crafts and other stuff to see if I have any. Maybe next weekend.
I want to start getting more simple craft things together to start selling on Etsy. I keep putting it off and I'm not going to make any money that way!
~~~~~~~~~~
The 2nd season of Glee starts tonight! I hope it's as good as last season!

September 20, 2010

No mice this morning!
Hardly any tweets overnight on my Twitter.
~~~~~~~~~~
noon
Home from work and shopping. Bought a bunch of swaps to send out tomorrow and a few groceries at WalMart and the Davis Food Co-op.
Now, I need to make something for lunch. I'm starving ...
~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~
I need to get thermometers for my fridges and freezers this week! I need 5 of them. I have 2 fridge/freezers and 1 chest freezer.
~~~~~~~~~~
I need to start taking apple cider vinegar more regularly. Just can't stand the taste!
~~~~~~~~~~
Have to take my mom to her dentist appt. early in the morning.
September 19, 2010
It's raining this morning. So, I might not get to work in the yard today ... But, at least I'm not in Bermuda being slammed by Hurricane Igor.
I'm having Straus vanilla yogurt with some natural trail mix and raisins mixed in. Never tried it this way before.
I think the rain is already over. Time to take another mousie out for release and pick up yesterday's mail.
~~~~~~~~~~
I can't believe I just joined another swap group. I must be nuts. I'm going to keep the post office in business.
~~~~~~~~~~
10am
Looks like the rain let up for a bit. Going outside to see what I can accomplish.
~~~~~~~~~~
noon
Damn. I was outside for 2 hours digging in the dirt. Time flew. It is really nice outside. Only about 66F. Sun is just trying to peek out from the clouds now.
Need food.
~~~~~~~~~~
My mouth is on fire. Eating spicy chicken samosas ...
Caught up with email and tweets. Going outside to read for a while and hopefully finish Fool Moon by Jim Butcher. Then, I'll get some sanding done on the shutters.
~~~~~~~~~~
Yay. Finished the book it was very good. Starting on Grave Peril by Jim Butcher now.
Need to find something to snack on ...
We're having pork roast with mac & cheese for dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~
5pm
Well, we WERE going to have pork roast, but my mom didn't realize how late it had gotten. So, she cut it in thick slices and put it in the rotisserie. Much better to me!
~~~~~~~~~~

September 18, 2010

7 am - Busy morning already. My mom fell in the bathroom. She's bruised, but not broken luckily. Candace went potty in the bathtub, so my mom was cleaning it out and miss-stepped.
No mice over-night, yay!
Starting my first load of wash for the day. I think I'll have 3 again today.
Got my candle burning. Love vanilla.
Need to clip Jorgy and Candace's nails this morning.
Lots of vacuuming to do, too ... feathers everywhere. You'd think with less birds, there'd be less feathers. But, the 3 babies shed a lot!
They've been enjoying time out on the porch lately. Will take them out again today for a few hours.
~~~~~~~~~~
Listening to old Hopalong Cassidy radio shows while having cereal.
~~~~~~~~~~
It's not even 11 and I am exhausted. Dusted my office and the living room. Vacuumed the living room, my office, the craft room and the kitchen. Rode my bike to the mailbox. Lots of good stuff from my swapping pals and my Co-op membership card! Pumped up the bike tires. Swept the carport steps and landing, the carport, the driveway, the sidewalk beside the carport, the front walkway and front steps. And, cleaned all the deck and stair rails. And, finishing my 3rd load of laundry ... I don't think I'll do any more today.
~~~~~~~~~~
My mom is making chicken quesadillas for lunch. I'm starving! I think I am getting a second wind, though and have some things to do later so might get them done!
~~~~~~~~~~
2PM
Just finished reading a couple of chapters of Fool Moon while sitting on the porch. It's nice outside. I also took the old shutters apart (they were from my dad's house) and started sanding them. They are going to be on my bathroom windows when they are done.
Going to change the blinds in my mom's bathroom now.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Bills have started coming in for next month. So, I was entering them on my calendar and realized I didn't pay for cable last week! Haven't been late in ages, but it will have to be paid next week! EEK!
Did some cross-stitching and then some artwork for a couple of friends (captions.)
~~~~~~~~~~
6pm
Finally caught up on all my surveys (missed out on some of them ...)
Dinner was okay. Half an herb-rubbed game hen and some bread. Very simple tonight.
~~~~~~~~~~~
8pm
Just soaked my feet in lavendar Epsom salts. Read another chapter in Fool Moon while doing that.
September 17, 2010
Can't believe I forgot to blog anything the last couple of days ... but, nothing really interesting happened.
Took another mouse out to the River Road this morning. Came home and cleaned the trap and hosed off the stepping stones outside. Going out to do more digging in the garden now.
I'm finally caught up with all my swaps and mailing them, so have a week or so to find more money to play in the next swaps.
Have several big projects coming up at work in the coming weeks. Not looking forward to them, but it's extra money!
~~~~~~~~~~
This is another excellent article by Dr. Mercola explaining body type nutrition. I found out about 15 years ago that I can't thrive as a vegan no matter how much I want to. I think I am of the mixed type he describes, but I could easily go without meat, I think, as long as I kept in some raw dairy and range eggs and the occasional range-raised chicken. I can't handle processed meats or factory-raised meat. The taste is awful and I can tell.

Must. Catch. Up. On. Surveys! Again ... I don't know why I always get so behind on them. But, will have to do it later. I need to get some more things done around here.
~~~~~~~~~~
Swept and mopped my bathroom floor and the laundryroom floor. Cleaned the throw rugs. I need to find my bungee cords. I bought a couple of big laundry bags last week to hang off the carport deck for the recycling, so we would have it piling up in the laundryroom. May have to buy more if I can't find them.
~~~~~~~~~~
Just finished cross-stitching for over an hour. That was relaxing ... until I found a know where there shouldn't be one. Will fix that tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~
I had some more written here, but damn Blogger dumped me out. So pissed. Was something about the fics I've been reading ... Grrrr. Maybe I will remember tomorrow.
September 14, 2010
Another lovely day. But, I did turn on the air a few minutes ago. I should be doing something, but just don't feel like it! I can't wait until the weather starts cooling off more in the afternoons so I can do some work out side. I just don't feel like doing any work inside the house.
Finally met the new neighbors. Young couple. Just got a kitten that I've heard crying the past couple of days. The girl told me their names, but I can't even remember them!
Read a couple of chapters of Fool Moon on the porch.
Mailed 5 swaps today. Postage is way too expensive! Takes the enjoyment out of it. Also bought more swaps to mail tomorrow ... I still need to find a couple of boxes for 2 others that are due, too.
~~~~~~~~~~

September 13, 2010

Just got back from my mom's dr. appt. I don't think we were there more than 20 minutes. Fastest appt. ever. Heart's fine. Next appt. in 6 mos.
~~~~~~~~~~
6pm
My neck has been bothering me all day. Must have slept on it wrong. I've been reading all day. Didn't do much else.
Not much happening in my groups and nothing really interesting coming through Twitter ...
Gotta work tomorrow, so I'll stop at the post office and mail a few swaps out before heading to service a couple of my stores.
I'm going to go broke on postage ...
September 12, 2010 - this afternoon
Didn't do as much outside as I wanted to today. Bad air day.
Have to take my mom to a dr. appt. tomorrow, so no work.
My neck is hurting today. Must have slept on it wrong or something.
~~~~~~~~~~
Read a few chapters outside on the porch of Jim Butcher's Fool Moon. Just finished reading another chapter while riding the exercycle. 14.3 mph; 2.7 miles; 11.58 minutes; burned 130 calories. Good ride.

I need to get the swaps that I've bought packaged for mailing on Tues.

September 12, 2010 - this morning

Nice, cool morning. No mice trapped. Two days in a row! Maybe I got them all finally! Will scrub the cabinets out again later.
~~~~~~~~~~
Listening to Another Life audiobook today. John Barrowman narrating.
~~~~~~~~~~
Elder's Meditation of the Day - September 12
"If you get troubled, go and sit by the river. The flowing water will take your troubles away."
--Joe Coyhis, STOCKBRIDGE-MUNSEE
Sometimes we get mixed up and we don't know what to do. Go to the river or creek. Take your sage and tobacco; sit and be still. Talk to the water, offer tobacco and the healing water will take your problems downstream. Give thanks.
Great Spirit, heal my mind today, let me see love.
~~~~~~~~~~
Rode my bike to the mailbox this morning. Junk mail ...
Weeded for about an hour. Now, I'm going out to read on the porch for a while. I'll listen to the last half of the audiobook after lunch.
September 11, 2010 - this afternoon
Proms In The Park: Too much opera; too much DJ; not enough John Barrowman. But still fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Elder's Meditation of the Day - September 11
"Listen to all the teachers in the woods. Watch the trees, the animals, and all living things - you'll learn more from them than from books."
--Joe Coyhis, STOCKBRIDGE-MUNSEE
Nature is a living example of how communities live in harmony. If you go into the forest or mountain and sit still and watch, ask yourself, what lessons are being taught? Then watch how the animals conduct themselves. The trees could represent diversity. The flowers could represent people. Notice how everything in nature assists one another. See how balance works. See how conflict is handled. Can you see acts of forgiveness? Can you spot respect? Nature is full of wisdom if we will only consider her to be our teacher.
My Creator, today let me learn from nature.
 ~~~~~~~~~~
Headache finally seems to be gone. I'll still make some more feverfew tea for lunch.
~~~~~~~~~~
OMG! I'm shocked! The neighbors are pulling the weeds in their backyard! No one ever goes back there. It is a fire hazard. The dead weeds are 3 feet tall. I can see their fence! I hope they start keeping the yard up.

Not feeling that great today, so haven't done too much. I did walk to the mailbox. And washed another section of the outside wall of the house. I'm soaked!
Waiting now for Proms In The Park to start on BBCRadio Manchester. John Barrowman!! Hope it doesn't cut out because I'm in the US! 15 minutes to go! Here's the live link:

September 10, 2010

I've been fighting a migraine all day. I'm steeping my 2nd cup of feverfew tea right now. I did get 2 stores serviced and stopped at Trader Joe's and a couple of other stops to pick up some groceries and swap gifts. Released another mousie before work this morning.
It's a nice day out again. We haven't used the A/C for 3 days!
So sad about the explosion in San Bruno yesterday. I am so wary about gas in the home. This just makes me more paranoid.

September 9, 2010 - this evening

It's been a really nice day, so far. Viola and I got 3 of my stores serviced and did the paper work for my raise.
~~~~~~~~~~
Got some cool swaps in the mail today. Jorgy got some treats, but she's not sure what to do with them yet. She's never had a pig snout before!
Need to catch up on my email and then clean/refill the mouse traps and ant bait traps and the bird feeders.
Elder's Meditation of the Day - September 9
"...[W]isdom comes only when you stop looking for it and start truly living the life the Creator intended for you."
--Lelia Fisher, HOH
There are many things that block us from wisdom such as; selfishness, secrets, hate, anger, jealousy and judgments. Another thing that can block us from wisdom is trying too hard or wishing something would happen. Wishing implies doubt and trying implies control. We need to let go of these things. We need to abandon ourselves to the Creator. As soon as we surrender everything, the wisdom starts to flow. The Elders know how to help us with this. Just ask them.
My Great Spirit, today I surrender my life and my will to Your care.
September 9, 2010 - good morning
I'm still going in slow-motion, I think. But, have to work today. Meeting my manager, Viola, to work a couple of stores together. But, I have TWO mice to release this morning and also have to go to the post office and get gas! Busy morning. When I get home, I have to re-stock the bird feeders and the ant bait because of the rain yesterday. It is still over-cast and much cooler. Hope it rains again! But, doubt it will.
Listening to John Barrowman on Radio Ulster live! He's promoting his upcoming concert tour. That was fun.
I've decided to join Listia. I'm still not too sure about it. But, I'll check it out for a while before I list anything. It could get pretty expensive with shipping and I am spending enough on shipping lately with the swap groups I am (and the return is not that great ...) Although PaperBackSwap is great!
Finally saw my resident hummingbird close up this evening! It actually PERCHED at the feeder. So tiny with irridescent green feathers on its back. Need to figure out what kind it is ... I think it may be a female Black-chinned, but can't find a good picture right now. Hope to see the bird again soon. I've seen it twice this week now.
~~~~~~~~~~
We have rain!!!! I forgot what it was! Sat out on the porch for a while. It was so relaxing! It would have been perfect except for the smell of wet asphalt.
~~~~~~~~~~
Yay! We finally have some white tomatoes and lemon cucumbers growing! More fruits soon! I thought they were going to do nothing but flower until the end of the season! The bell pepper finally has another flower, too. It had 1 pepper so far ...
~~~~~~~~~~
Barometric pressure must have changed or something ... my ankle that I cracked last year is killing me. It's been raining for more than an hour. Love it!
~~~~~~~~~~
Another hour and I can put the strawberry mixture into the ice cream maker!
~~~~~~~~~~
Ice cream is made. I think it's a winner. In the freezer now. Will have some tomorrow!

September 8, 2010 - good morning

Didn't feel that great when I got up, so didn't work today. Will have to catch up on stores tomorrow and Friday. I just got back from the grocery store. Had to mail a swap package and get some milk and bananas and my mom's Rx.
Got a fun swap in the mail, a reusable shopping bag and an apple-shaped apple corer. Both are keepers! :)
The wild birds are very active around the feeders lately and the jays and finches are very 'talkative'! Love it.
Surprisingly didn't catch any mice overnight! First time in a month, I think! So nice not to waste the gas taking them out to release!

Elder's Meditation of the Day - September 8
"Keep your life simple because the more you get, the more complicated it becomes."
--Joe Coyhis, STOCKBRIDGE-MUNSEE
The old ones say, lead a simple life. The society we live in is all about getting more houses, cars, luxury and credit cards. The law of worry says, the more you have, the more you need to worry. You get a house, then you need insurance, then you need to take care of the yard and the list goes on. Next, you may want a bigger house with a bigger yard which costs more in insurance. Along with the accumulation of materialism, are other "gifts." Soon you become a slave and the materialism owns you. Lead a simple life and have peace of mind. Lead a simple life and be spiritual.
Creator, let my foundation be spiritual and simple.

Going outside to read for a bit. It's a nice day. We had a lot of clouds earlier.
~~~~~~~~~~
I ended up just reading one chapter outside and then pulled weeds for about 20 minutes before my mom asked if I wanted a bean burrito. So, waiting for that now. I also did 20 jumps on the trampoline.
Still feel a bit 'off', so I think I will make some feverfew tea after lunch.
~~~~~~~~~~
Have a few surveys to catch up on and also about 100 tweets or so to read. And, my Incredimail crashed again ... grrr.

I am sooooo tired of my Incredimail crashing all the time ...
Dinner was good. Rotisseried pork spare ribs and half a baked potato and half a banana and raw whole milk.
Need to finish off the lemon ice cream so I can make strawberry tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~
Did 20 more jumps on the trampoline, and then rode the exercycle and read a short chapter in Jim Butcher's Fool Moon. 12.6 mph; 1.4 miles; 6.36 minutes and burned 69 calories.
September 7, 2010 - this afternoon
Well, I got 2 stores done. I released the mouse. I also dropped off my mom's new Rx at WalMart, bought a swap gift, & recycled a few bottles/cans. I tried a new recycler today. Won't go there again. They don't pay enough. I think I may start going back to the place I used to go in West Sac. There are no good, reliable recyclers that I can find here in Woodland. Very disappointing.
Came home and cleaned the mouse trap and sprayed down another section of wall. I did a section yesterday, too. Lots of cobwebs and other crap clinging to the siding. Lots more to do, a little each day.
I'm going to go out and clean and refill the hummingbird feeder and all the ant bait traps (those work great!)
September 6, 2010 - this evening
Read another chapter while riding the exercycle. 14 mph; 2.3 miles; 9.45 minutes; burned 109 calories. I've also done 40 jumps on the trampoline and walked for 15 minutes.
I also did all my chair exercises, face exercises, resistance rings and 10 counter push-ups!
~~~~~~~~~~~
My mom is making 15 bean soup in the crock pot for dinner today. It's been smelling good all day.
I made a strawberry/blackberry/banana smoothie with almond milk for lunch earlier. Yum.
~~~~~~~~~~
I was sad to see on tonight's local news that the State Theater, here in Woodland, is closing its doors tonight. I used to go there a lot when I was younger. Sat through marathon sittings of Grease and Star Wars with my best friend when they came out. My aunt Juanita worked there in the 50s. It opened the year my dad was born ... 1937.
End of an era. Now there is only the theater inside the mall.
Well, I gotta work tomorrow. Holiday weekend is over. I need to bring the flag in now.
September 6, 2010 - good morning
Very early morning. Last night I discovered a mouse has been in my room! So, I put one of the traps in there. Woke up at 5 hearing chewing sounds. Caught one! He was eating the cat treat in the trap. Couldn't go back to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~
I ended up putting the flag out. Just had to move one of my bird feeder so it wouldn't get knocked over if the flag was blown onto it.
Starting on my second load of wash. Will wash out the dresser drawers later today. I need to take the mouse out for release after I finish breakfast.

Elder's Meditation of the Day - September 6
"We all form self-images and much of our behavior is pretty well determined by how we feel about ourselves."
--Eunice Baumann-Nelson, Ph.D., PENOBSCOT
There is a cycle of building beliefs called the self talk cycle. Our self talk builds our self image and our self image determines our behavior, our actions, and our self worth - how we feel about ourselves. If we want to change the way we feel about ourselves we need to change our self talk. We need to build ourselves up. We need to talk to ourselves in a kind, positive, uplifting, good way. We need to talk to ourselves about the good things that are happening and know that we are worthy and expect abundance.
Oh Great Spirit, today help me to know myself. Help me to see the joy, kindness, strength and beauty that I am.

I finished sanding the bathroom cabinet doors finally! Tomorrow, I'll fill in the holes, sand them down and start painting them!

~~~~~~~~~~
So glad to be done with dark forest green in my cross-stitch. Have moved on to turquoise. Pretty.
Going for a 15 minute walk and another 20 jumps on the trampoline now.
~~~~~~~~~~

Elder's Meditation:
"As we view the world today, it's easy to see the people are off track. We are no longer living in harmony. Focusing on the material only leads us from the path of the Creator. We must now pray for ourselves and the people in a pitiful way. We must be humble and ask the Great Spirit to intervene because if we don't, our children will continue to have troubles. They are acting out our behavior as adults. Today is a good time to start. We need to get the spiritual way back into our lives. We need to focus on the spiritual."
~~~~~~~~~~
When I took the mouse to release earlier, I stupidly walked into the top corner of my car door when I was getting back in. I now have a big bruise on the front of my shoulder ...
I'm going outside to read more of Jim Butcher's Storm Front and the gardeining magazine I got in the mail yesterday. Hopefully, I will finish sanding that cabinet door, too.
Oh, I got some lovely stuff from one of my swap groups in the mail, too. Love the apple-cinnamon candles.
I have been very lazy about my exercising already this month. I did just do 20 jumps on the trampoline. Need to at least get my chair exercises and resistance rings in tonight.
I STILL haven't done my surveys ... My fault if I miss out on some cash ...
I did get some resistance ring work in ...
Wow, this day is flying by. Just finished lunch. Chicken tacos. I've already released the mice, pulled weeds, read the Torchwood comic I bought yesterday, read a chapter of Jim Butcher's Storm Front and sanded the cabinet door. I should be able to finish that door tomorrow.
Going to move a heavy pot for my mom, refill the wild bird feeders and reset the mouse traps.
September 3, 2010 - this evening
Just finished cross-stitching for 30 minutes. I also made a strawberry/watermelon smoothie. It's good. Made it up. About 8 cubes of seedless watermelon, 5 frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup Naked orange/carrot juice. Yum.
I need to set up the new glucose meter I bought for my mom last month. She finally used up all the sticks on the old one. And, I need to put the batteries in the new wrist blood pressure cuff.
Then, I need to make some artwork for a birthday gift in one of my groups. Still need to find the pics I want to use in it ...
But, dinner is first. My mom made pork roast with cranberries poked in it ... and I'm not sure what else!! Ah, okay, rainbow pasta with homemade spaghetti sauce. Yum. And, a fig. I don't remember ever eating a real fig. My mom loves them. I know I tried fig newtons as a kid and didn't like them ... so we'll see ...
Set up her glucose meter and mine is 112. I never tested myself before. Not bad since I just had dinner 30 min. ago. She does hers in the morning, but is usually in the 120s.
September 3, 2010 - back from shopping
Somehow, I survived, or I should say my mother survived. Grrr. She always has to find things to complain about. They're too expensive. Why are their candles so expensive. They don't have the brands I like. Arrrgghhh!!! Still spent over $300! So, she obviously found some things to buy. She also spent $100 at Borders for books I could have gotten her for free on Paperback Swap ... it's always something with her!
I bought the latest Torchwood magazine (I am missing several issues, I need to track down, too!) & the 2 covers of the first issue of Titan magazine's Torchwood comic written by John Barrowman. Can't wait to find issue #2 (also has 2 different collector covers) written by John and his sister, Carole.
