October 31, 2013

It's Hallowe'en! And, Nikky is 4 today (her guesstimated birthday.)
I decorated the carport stairs.
And, I went to the co-op this morning and got some organic treats for the kiddos:
Organic Made in Nature raisins, organic Yummy Earth suckers and Joyva Sesame Crunch (sadly, not organic, but Kosher - the neighbors are Jewish ;))

Five kids so far. A couple of princesses and various ghouls.

Well, that was a bummer. Glad I didn't buy too much candy. I think next year, I'll only buy raisins.
Almost time to put all the critters to bed, turn out the lights and watch White Collar!

October 27, 2013

Well, I did get the carpet completely pulled from my bedroom!! And, all staples and tack strips pulled. I also steam-cleaned the kitchen, laundry and bathroom floors. And, got 2 hours of painting done. I didn't get the little pipes covered as I ran out of duct tape. I'll have to get more tomorrow so I can finish that.
Pile of carpet and padding for the garbage.

It's slow-going, but I might actually get it all done by December ... 2014 ... ;) I need to make a different clothespin bag, too. That one is about 50 years old and pink does not match the house! haha.

And, here is a pic of poor little Robin's nose.
It looks so much better than it did yesterday when it was swollen and seeping blood! I still think it may scar.

The weather is starting to change. Much cooler today and very windy.

I need to get some treats for the kids. Can't believe how this month has flown by! I didn't even get any decorations up! And, Nikky will be 4! I'll get her a treat, too!

It's been a month since I moved my office from my bedroom back out to the living room. And, I still can't find my headphones!

Now that I have the carpet out of my room, I am finally going to get the knitting machine set up in my room. I haven't used it in about 10 years, I think! I know I need to replace a couple of the carriage plates. I'll be checking eBay and a few other places for them. It's still useable, but it'll be better and slide more smoothly once I replace them. Need to go through all of my yarn stash and decide what to make first! I'm also going to set my knitting looms out, too! I'll finally get to use them!! Need to make some little pom-pom toys for Ezra. His old store-bought ones are falling apart and he loves those.

Wow. The wind is really picking up!

Listening to another great Daniel Vitalis interview.
I'll be working the next 3 days and then will have 4 days off. Have so much I want to get done, but doubt I'll get to all of it ...

Having some strawberry tea with a bit of maple syrup to sweeten it.

October 26, 2013

This has been a frustrating day ... week ... month ...
Robin has his first injury. I had the bucks out while I cleaned cages and of course, my mom is in her room reading or watching TV or something and not helping watch them. Nikky was on her own as supervisor. She kept running into the kitchen trying to tell me something. So, I finally get a chance to check on them and Sheree has blood streaks all over his white fur. Then I see Robin trying to climb over him. So, I grab them both by the scruff and put them in their cages. After I finished cleaning, I got a wet towel and wiped Sheree down and found no injuries. So, I start on Robin. He has a big, bloody scratch on his nose. It's gonna scar, I think.
Then, after lunch, I go out to finally finish my mom's bathroom window. I still had 7 screws to replace and the top half to re-caulk. I had told my mom several times yesterday that I would need her help today to hold the ladder still, etc. And, that it would be after lunch ... Does she come out to help? Of course not. So, I'm putting in the last 2 screws and she yells out my bathroom window - oh, there you are. Do you still need my help? (Gaaaaah!!! Don't bother!) So, she comes out and waters some plants ... Seriously. I'll just fall off the rickety ladder now. Thanks ... I won't be asking for help again. I give up. I should know better after all these years!

I got more of the carpet from my bedroom pulled up and cut up. And all of the tack strips and staples pulled up. All that's left is what's under the bed and I hope to get that up tomorrow morning.

And, I WILL paint for two hours tomorrow afternoon. And, I have two more small pipes to wrap. The weather is supposed to change by next weekend and I may not get to do anything then.

It will be another busy work week, even though I only plan on working 3 days - they will be long. And, a new store set-up on Wed.

Just watched Creature from the Black Lagoon. Hadn't seen that in years.

October 18, 2013

My days have been fairly full lately and no time to do some of the things that I want or need to do ... work is crazy busy with a lot of special projects that take far too long, so some days I can only get one store done! And, I'm still taking care of my cousin's old cat.
So, today when I got home from checking on Squint and stopping at the co-op, I decided to let the bucks out to run around for a while and just enjoy watching them play along with Ezra and Nikky.
The Sheriff checking out the doves.
 Nikky checking out Robin.
Ezra hoping the bunnies will go back in their cages soon! ;)

That was a fun 30 minutes for them. I haven't been letting them out enough lately.
I also got my closets organized today and finally moved the eBike back into the shed.

I really have to find the time to paint this weekend ...

Listening to another great Daniel Vitalis podcast/interview. So good.

I have bunny-proofed my yard! Robin and Sheriff have had a romp and we all really enjoyed it!

I love this action shot! Pretty good for a bunny that had no use of his left forearm 4 months ago. Go, Sheriff!

They both dug their first hole.

Sheree did a much better job than Robby!

Robby tried to get in Sheree's diggy hole, but Sheree tried to push him out.

Sheree got his hole back!
They were tired out by then, so their outing was over. They were really worn out.

Dinner was yum!! I've made this before, but it's always a winner. My mom has been bugging me the past few days to make some kind of soup, so bacon butternut squash soup was made! You can find the original recipe here: or my slightly altered version on my food blog here: Enough was left-over to have it again tomorrow night. Just have to make more bacon.

I love incense. I've been alternating strawberry and vanilla today. Smells so good. My mom hates it. ;)

Just finished watching the latest episodes of Husbands and The Michael J. Fox show. Both were so much fun. Sad that I'll have to wait months for the next season of Husbands! There is just not enough of that show! Brad Bell is just so damn adorable. And, tiny. You could put him in your pocket! Ha!

October 5, 2013

I have been so annoyingly busy the past week that I can't even think!
My cousin Curtis had his heart surgery last Wednesday. It took more than 13 hours due to some complications caused from a previous surgery (how did some mesh tangle around his aorta ... hmmm?)
My mom and I just got back from visiting him. He is doing really well now and has color! He's been pale for far too long! He was sitting up and brushing his teeth when we got there! They may be moving him to a regular room tomorrow (he's in Cardiac ICU right now.) He is determined now to start eating right (even though his heart issues stem from a congenital problem that wasn't discovered until he was 22 and he is 54 now,) so wants my help with that when he gets back to his own place. He'll be staying with his best friends for a couple of weeks until he can get around. So, I will continue to take care of old Squint (his cat.)
Plus, with work, there are more special projects than I can keep up with right now and very short deadlines! But, decent pay, so gotta do it.
'Might' get some house-painting done tomorrow ... I hope ...

8:30 pm
Had some really, really good beef chuck steak for dinner. Very tender and juicy. I am not a big beef eater as it's rare that I can find a good cut that isn't totally fat-less and dry and tough and gristley. I have so few molars, that I have to be very picky about what I can chew without pain. So, I usually stick with other species of meat! And, had a big sweet potato with lots of butter and cinnamon. Yum!
