THE SEED OF THE DAY – Zinnia Week – Persian Carpet –...
I was so busy yesterday, I didn't even open up my blog to write anything. I got home at a fairly normal time for me (around 2:30) from servicing 2 stores in Sacramento. As soon as I got home, I got back to researching ebikes. (Thanks to Wilma for some ebike info!) And, I bought one - this one! I've been wanting one for quite a while and since today is the last day I can legally drive my car until I can get it to pass the smog test, this is the perfect time to get one. I actually bought a 'cheap' one from WalMart (if you want to call $500 cheap ... I love BillMeLater!!!) & it will be delivered by Monday! I've been planning this for a while, as I decided a few years ago that the Toyota will be my last car. I've been driving over 30 years now and I have always hated driving. So, if the car doesn't pass smog after changing out the oxygen sensor (which I have) & getting the check engine light reset, it will be parked until I can sell it or retire it to the state (there is a program in California for that.) It's the bus and bike for me! Then! All of the books I had listed on Listia ended one after the other. So, I spent about 4 hours packaging 22 books and some other things to mail on Friday. I will have to hook up the trailer to my bike (my current, non-electric bike) to haul them to the post office annex at the grocery store down the street! Plus, watched Criminal Minds and CSI!

3:34pm
I got home a couple hours ago. Paid a bill, serviced one store and got a few groceries.
Just spent the past hour or so outside. Cleaned up Nikky's yard, hung a load of laundry on the line (first time this year!), swept part of the carport, and finally (after over 3 years!) attached the wagon to my bike. It's one of those pull-behinds that people carry kids in. I originally bought it to take Jorgy for rides, but then she died, so I never used it. I have cleaned it up and will start using it now. I am going to practice with it on the regular bike. When I get used to it, I'll attach it to the ebike. It will be great for groceries and also to haul my work stuff. And, I want to train Nikky to stay in it, so I can take her to the man-made lake down the road and walk the trail with her. I can attach her seatbelt to the kiddie seat belts in it, so shouldn't be a problem. I'll get good practice pulling it tomorrow, since I want to travel around town to pay bills and pick up a few groceries. It will be a very long day of bike riding.

4:30pm
Can't wait for dinner - pork tenderloin. I hope the NuWave oven doesn't ruin it! I'm starving!

5pm
I. Am. Stuffed. The tenderloin was a bit dry in places, but otherwise OK.
Going out to get the clothes off the line. Then, I need to get a couple of postcards and greeting cards made that I need to mail tomorrow ... the first came too fast ...

6:30pm
Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural : War of the Sons.

Listened to part 9 of Superman - The Man Without A Face.

8:30pm
This afternoon has flown by. Packaged up more mail. Made 2 greeting cards. Still need to make the postcards, but don't think they will get done tonight.
I watched episodes 8 & 9 of the old series Best of the West.

February 26, 2013

7:45am
Ah, such a boring life I have. Nothing really interesting happened yesterday and I really didn't do much other than service one store. Very lazy yesterday.

THE SEED OF THE DAY – Zinnia Week –The Lavender Queen Zinnia –...
THE SEED OF THE DAY – Zinnia Week –The Cactus Zinnia, Sunny Boy –...
10am
I'm so lazy again today. Didn't go to work. I only have 5 more stores to do this week so will do them tomorrow and Thurs. I'm making mail art for some swaps and also will list a few things on Listia. Have quite a few auctions closing on there the next couple of days. Will be doing a LOT of mailing ...

Listened to the The Best of Sam Cooke and Rocky Road To Dublin by Kings Galliard.

Now listening to  Celtic Dreamland by Putumayo.

Making mail art envelopes. I use junk mail envelopes as the base. Nothing goes to waste.

2:15pm
Rode my bike to the mailbox earlier. Got some really fun stuff in a swap. Then, listened to a great Daniel Vitalis interview. That guy is brilliant.

2:45pm
Took a 20-minute nap. Going to try to do that every day. Turned everything off in my nice, dark room except my air filter. Nice.

Listening to more swing music and eating an apple while catching up on health articles.

6pm
Well ... I didn't get anything listed on Listia ... But, I did make an ATC which I might list on there tomorrow ... we'll see. I usually just make them for swaps, but this one I made for the heck of it! It is a miniature version of a postcard I made a couple of weeks ago.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural : War of the Sons.

Decided to list the ATC tonight: I'm giving away: Do Not Disturb - Original Collage ATC/ACEO. Check it out -

9:15pm
Listened to part 7 of Superman - The Man Without A Face. And, watched episode 7 of the old series Best of the West.

February 24, 2013

9am
I had hoped for an easy day today. But, my mom is already bugging me to do things. Clean the upright vacuum. Find me a BBQ sauce recipe. Do this. Do that ... grrr.

So, I am going to get the paper beads I finished yesterday listed online. Then, do some more research on ebikes. Then, move the XP computer back into my room (I'll have all of my computers set up in here then.) I also have to go through the bin with my computer parts and see if I still have another set of speakers. Then, the sewing machine will be moved into my room. After that. I might clean the vacuum ... ;)

I'm giving away: Handmade Paper Beads - 100. Check it out -

10:45am
OK. So, I've done some more research on ebikes and am really liking an old traditional-style scooterBut, I'm also drawn to a couple of Prodeco ebikesThese have the best ability for distance on a battery charge, which I need. A mere 15-20 miles will not cut it for me since some of my round trips will be over 40 miles on surface streets, as I will no longer be using the highways. Being able to pedal will help, but I can't do that for the whole distance! I used to be able to do that, but it was nearly 20 years ago! These are in the price range I'm willing to pay. Some I've seen are the price of a small used car!

Listened to more of the Clancy Brothers music. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem In Person at Carnegie Hall- The Complete 1963 Concert, Home to Ireland: The Best of the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem
Now, I'm listening to the Blarney Lads Seven Drunken Nights: Irish Party Favorites
I have tons of Irish music.

Now searching for a decent BBQ sauce that I have all the ingredients for ... I am not a fan of BBQ sauces, so really don't know why she wants me to find one ...

12:30pm
Damn noisy neighbor is finishing the remodel on his carport. The damn awning is right at the edge of my fenceline. So, any run-off will go right into my yard. Grrr. It will be useless to complain since our regular manager will not be back until April from medical leave. I'm really not happy about it ...

I found the other speakers, but I can't find their metal stands. Hope they are around here someplace ...

1:30pm
Got the old XP computer set-up, but the old monitor is still a problem. Can't even try to update anything on it without that working. I'll keep trying to get it to turn on all the way. But, I may just have to save up some money to buy a new monitor for it or try to figure out how to hook the littlest TV up to it ... That might be the most viable solution right now. Will think about that.
Updating the Vista laptop now. Lots of outdated programs on it since I haven't even opened it up in a couple of months.

Finally, after 20 minutes the monitor came on! Hmmm, forgot it doesn't have wireless without the plug-in which is on this computer ... so, can't try to update anything on there today. But, I can clean a few things up and transfer some files around.

3 pm
Vacuum is cleaned. Hose was clogged - again and there was a wad of hair around the belt ... Still sucks at sucking things up. I hate that thing. I will stick with my old canister vac and the hand-vac. They have suction! But, she won't use those ... she'll just use the upright and complain that it won't pick up feathers, etc.

Time to move the sewing machine into my room. Yay! I may finally get some sewing crafts finished that I started ages ago!

Yes, all done moving furniture in and out of my room! Computers are all hooked up and running. Next project is organizing the crafts/beads/sale & auction stuff. My craft table has a mess piled on and under it. But, that will be for another day! Too tired! And, still have to wrap Nikky's sore. She just started messing with it again. Since I didn't get out to find some fresh herbs, I just put coconut oil and lavender oil on it today. She doesn't like the smell of the lavender oil, I think. She's rolling all over the floor, but she is stuck with it! ;) At least she's not licking the sore.

Listening to Forever Plaid: The Heavenly Musical Hit (1990 Off-Off-Broadway Cast)

Need to find some kind of hooks or bolts or something to hang my  big bulletin board on my closet door ...

4:15pm
Time for some tea ... Chocolate Maté, methinks. Yum.

Wow. I've been using WinRar for more years than I can remember to 'unzip' files. But, I just figured out how to join files with it! I put a magazine back together! Cool.

I haven't watched the Oscars since the '70s. Don't plan to. It's just such hype and extravagance that really has no place. The ultimate show-offs. All the red-carpet crap is a real turn-off. It used to be really cool. Not any more.
My Twitter feed has exploded with Oscar crap.

5:30pm
Damn. Sounds like there are 100 people next door, they are so noisy! Gah!!!!

6:15pm
Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural : War of the Sons.

Listening to 50 Irish Party Sing-A-Longs & Great Irish American Singalong

9:15pm
Listened to part 5 of Superman - The Man Without A Face. And, watched episode 5 of the old series Best of the West.

February 23, 2013

7am
Woke up early today and couldn't go back to sleep. Just wasn't tired enough. But, my room was nice and dark all night with the new curtains, so that was good.

I got 40 paper beads coated in glaze. I now have a new set of 100 to list tomorrow.

Have so much I want to do today! Doubt I'll get to it all ...

10:45am
Got the shopping out of the way. As always, spent more than planned ...

Got some nice mail today. Swaps and a late birthday card.

Listened to Ain't It Grand Boys by  The Clancy Brothers.

2:30pm
Doves' cages are clean and their room is vacuumed. I moved my craft table into my bedroom and started moving some of the book crates out to the living room. Going a bit slow today.

Cleaned Nikky's yard. Laid the carpet from the closet out over some weeds. Took some stuff out to the shed. Pulled the burned-out light bulb from the left turn signal on the car. Will get a new one on Monday. Printed out the instructions to change out the oxygen sensor on the car. Now, I don't feel like working on it ...

I'll just keep rearranging my room. Going to move the rest of the milk crate book shelves out of here. I'm determined to get the TV where I want it today.

Listened Little Bit of Irish by Bing Crosby.

3:30pm
Listening to Tunes N Tales by The Clancy Brothers.

Got the TV situated and moved my rolling plastic storage drawers into the bedroom. And, I still may be able to fit the sewing machine in here. But, that will be for another day.  I am worn out!

Nikky has gotten stressed from all this furniture moving and not being able to get to her room until bedtime (she likes laying in it during the day whenever she wants) so she has licked a sore on her leg ... ugh. I hate dealing with lick granulomas. Well, the moving is done in the bedroom, so she should calm down. Will make a little poultice of coconut oil & some herbs tomorrow.

6:30pm
Listened to Live by The Clancy Brothers and Irish Drinking Songs by The Clancy Brothers. Also.  The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem: Reunion Concert at the Ulster Hall Belfast. I love Irish music.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural : War of the Sons.

9:15pm
Listened to part 4 of Superman - The Man Without A Face. And, watched episode 4 of the old series Best of the West.

February 22, 2013

8am
I decided to stay home today ... going to get that part put on my car and try to reset the check engine light again.
Then, going to work on pulling the rest of the carpet out of my closet and move furniture around. If I find my box cutter, I 'might' go ahead and pull all the carpet from my bedroom over the weekend and then move the furniture where I want it. We'll see.

I'm also going to put up the curtains that I washed last night. Maybe I will finally have a dark bedroom to sleep in!

9am
My current bedroom curtains. They came with the house. Nice, but too thin.
9:30am
Ah, that's much better!
These curtains are lined, too, so will help keep the draftiness from the window at bay a bit.

Now, to work on the closet.

Noon
Closet is done. Moved Papa's vanity into the space where the bins were.
The other side of the closet is Nikky's room. Her bed is in there. I'm washing her bedding now, so will take a pic later when it is set back up.
Papa's big dresser is now moved to where the vanity was.
Will be moving my big computer desk from the living room into my bedroom next. It will go where the big dresser was.
It has to be moved in pieces. That is much easier than fighting it through all the doorways and angles.

3:30pm
Finally! I got the desks set up the way I want them!  Took longer than I had planned. So not in the mood to work on the car now! Here's the finished area for this computer. Next week, I'll work on getting the other computers set up in here and the TV. Will be moving all the milk crate shelving out of here, which will make much more room for them all. Plus, I will still have a little area to do small crafts in.
The camera has given up for the day, so I can't get pics of Nikky's room right now ... I'll have to find some fresh batteries tomorrow.

I am so tired right now ...

6:30pm
Dinner was so good! We had Onion-roasted ribs.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural : War of the Sons.

I've been listening to a lot of swing music again today.

9:15pm
Listened to part 3 of Superman - The Man Without A Face. And, watched episode 3 of the old series Best of the West.  Also watched episode 4 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries.

February 21, 2013

4:45pm
Late to my blog today. Got 2 stores serviced here in town. Paid my mobile home registration for the year. It's weird to me that I have to register my house like my car because it is considered moveable, even though it has been in the same spot since 1977!

Starting to move the bins out of my closet. They all have old photos and other vintage stuff. They were hard to get to in there, so I was ignoring them. I am moving them to the living room (which is now turning into a sort of storage room ...) I'm rearranging my bedroom to move most of my office in here, since I'm in here all the time now. The living room is just far too cold in winter and too hot in summer, so it's not really comfortable in there much of the year. So, it's now storage and plants.

I'll be ripping the carpet up from the closet floor before I move anything else in there. This year, I'll be removing all of my bedroom carpet and putting down a wood floor. I hate wall-to-wall carpet.

A near-tragedy has been averted ... I think. Our sweet potato that has been growing like crazy in water has outgrown the large fish bowl it was in. The vines were so long it fell over. Now it is in a 20-gallon fish tank that needs more dirt. Will add more dirt to cover the potato tomorrow. At least the massive root system is in dirt. I never thought it would get so big! The roots filled up the fish bowl completely, so it was about time to move it all. We'll tie up the vines tomorrow, so Ezra won't play with them.

6:30pm
Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

I've been listening to a lot of swing music again today. I also listened to some Irish music.

Can't find my big box cutter, so won't be able to cut the carpet out of the closet tonight ... oh, well ... will do tomorrow, then.

OK. I knew the carpeting was crappy ... I was able to pull half the carpet up in the closet as it was just pieced in there! and stapled down with tiny staples. No wonder we are always getting poked in the feet in the den/doves' room. I think that room will get done after my bedroom. Oh, and there is no padding under the closet carpet ...

8pm
Listened to part 2 of Superman - The Man Without A Face. And, watched episode 2 of the old series Best of the West.

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

February 20, 2013

5:30pm
It's been a long day. Kind of flew by, though.
Got 2 stores serviced in Sacramento.
The car part was in my mailbox this morning. So, I'll get that changed on Saturday and see what happens.

Cutting out postcard and ATC backs. Junk mail and discontinued graphics from work are so useful.

Listened to
B00005BA03 Wingspan (Hits & History) by Paul McCartney today. Haven't listened to those songs in years!

6:15pm
Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

8pm
Listened to part 1 of Superman - The Man Without A Face. And, watched the first episode of the old series Best of the West.
Time for a new Criminal Minds and CSI!

February 19, 2013

6:45am
Woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep.
But, checked my Listia and have bids on several things. Always nice to see.
I will be mailing my last international swap today. Waaaaaay too expensive now. Almost $20 to mail 17.4 ounces of little things! Outrageous! Takes the fun right out of it. Heck, even sending a postcard is out of the question, these days. $1.10!! Forget it. US mail only from now on for swapping. :(

7:47am
Hope that part comes for my car soon. I want to get this car situation resolved one way or another. I'll need to get my bus passes within the week if the car is not able to be fixed enough to pass the smog test with this part.

3:30pm
Well, we never lost power. It's been raining most of the day, so I'd say they are going to reschedule replacing that power pole. So, they will probably just do it without letting us know when now.
I got one store serviced in Davis. Also stopped at the Dollar Tree to get more glue sticks for my paper crafting and found a couple of caps (I seem to be collecting hats, lately!) and a wire basket I needed for a trash can by my desk.

7pm
Listened to part 14 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation. Well, heck. I though it was the last part. But, it's missing! I need a part 15! :(
Hmm. Did a little research in the Internet Archive and it was the last part. It merges into The Man Without A Face serial. So, hopefully, Jimmy will be rescued in the first episode of that one! I'll find out tomorrow!

I found a really good tea at World Market last week. It's nice and spicy. I like most of the flavors in this brand.
B007JUVMLU Zhena's Gypsy Tea - Hazelnut Chai Black Tea

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

Raining again. :)
Temperature seems to have plummeted. I'm cold. It is only 40F right now. Tuning on my little space heater for a while.

9:45pm
I watched episode 7 of Ripper Street. OMG! What a cliffhanger!
Now waiting for the new episode of White Collar on TV. Hate that it is on so late.

Monday, February 18, 2013

February 18, 2013

10am
Whew. I'm already worn out this morning! Rode my bike to the store. Need to get used to it. Was a bit chilly. My ears got cold! Only problem ... I forgot my store points card, so missed out on points for my purchases! Grrr.

Now, to start listing all those Ceramics magazines!

11:45am
I think I finally got all those magazines up! I thought I had more. Will have to search through the piles after lunch.

Damn. Found the rest of them. Three more years' worth ... lots of scanning to do now before I can list the rest ...

2pm
Still scanning ... will finish later. Going out to pull weeds. And, YahooGroups Calendar is messing up again ... won't let me add an event and I'm the owner of the group I'm making an entry for!!! Grrr.

3pm
That breeze is chilly. It's only 57F out, but feels a bit cooler, I think. Only weeded for about 30 minutes.
Back to scanning ...

4pm
Finally finished scanning all of the Ceramics magazines. Will start listing them tomorrow. Too tired right now.
Making some Lavender Lemonade.

8pm
Listened to part 13 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation. One part left!

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

It's raining! :)

9:15pm
I watched the Dinner episode of a 3-part British documentary called Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Sunday, February 17, 2013

February 17, 2013

9:30am
I got my new Gubler original t-shirt. That was fast! Two days from order to mailbox (since it arrived yesterday afternoon - I always go get my mail the following morning)!

10:45am
Load of clothes washed. Finished cleaning oven and broiler that I started yesterday.

Now, to start listing more books!

1:30pm
Have 2 books ready to mail. They were snagged within minutes of being listed! Hope I can get rid of some more! I listed about 40 hardback books this morning. Probably hundreds more to go ...

Going out to dig in the dirt for a while.

I'll list more books when I come back in later.

3:30pm
That was relaxing! I think Nikky enjoys our outside time, too.

6:30pm
Whew! Check out all the books I have listed on Listia and on Paperback Swap. Lots of popular authors. All hardbacks with dust jackets. Excellent condition. They belonged to my aunt Jeanne and I really don't think very many of them were ever read!

Tomorrow, I'll be listing several years' worth of Ceramics magazines on Listia.

Ezra was lounging around while we had dinner.

8pm
Listened to part 12 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

9:15pm
I watched the Lunch episode of a 3-part British documentary called Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. It was really interesting! The history of breakfast! Tomorrow, I'll watch the Dinner episode.

THE SEED OF THE DAY – Beets & Vines – The Sunrise Serenade Morning Glory –...
10:45am
It's another pretty day. Walked with my mom and Nikky to the mailbox. Nikky was fussy today. There is a new dog on the route that must be saying something to her that's not that nice.
Got a couple of nice postcards in the mail from a couple of swaps. I will be sad in August when Saturday mail ends.

Just finished cleaning the doves' cages and putting wheels on their shelf unit. Also vacuumed their room. So much easier to move the shelf with the wheels! Now, I can easily get the feathers and seeds vacuumed out of the corner.

Washing a load of sheets that were my aunt's. They were in one of the bins Curtis brought over last week. Can always use sheets and pillowcases!

Next, I will be going through a bin full of hardback books and listing them at several sites (Listia, PaperbackSwap and maybe Bonanza.) Must research them to see where would be best. My aunt had a lot of books ...

1pm
I'm giving away: Jumbo Rubber Bands - 5. Check it out -

I'm giving away: 11 various used USA stamps. Check it out -

I'm giving away: 12 various used non-USA stamps. Check it out -

I'm giving away: 10 Tea Bag Covers - for crafts - USED. Check it out -

3:30pm
Nikky and I spent a bit over an hour pulling weeds. It is so nice outside! I almost have the area beside the shed cleared enough to dig out the weed barrier cloth and one of the cement postholes from the old fence. Hope to get it cleared and leveled next week. Then, I can get the patio stones laid there. It's about a 6 foot square area, I think.

7pm
Well, one of the books I listed on PaperbackSwap already got snagged. Will be mailing it out on Tuesday. Need to list some more. I got sidetracked with the oven cleaning (which is not yet done ...) and didn't get much listed.

9:45pm
Listened to part 11 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

I tried to watch another episode of Touch. Couldn't get past the first five minutes. I just don't like it. So, I watched the Breakfast episode of a 3-part British documentary called Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. It was really interesting! The history of breakfast! Tomorrow, I'll watch the Lunch episode.

February 15, 2013

4:30pm
Well, yesterday, I really wasn't in the mood to blog. It was a nice day. So was today. Got some stores done. Pulled weeds in the yard. Bought some nice cardstock for papercrafting. Found out how ridiculously expensive an engine diagnostic is to find out the code for my check engine light. Hunted for local maps (you know, real paper maps of my area ...) and no one has any! Apparently, the company that makes them is going out of business. I did find a Sacramento map, but I still need a Yolo/Solano county map. I ordered the oxygen sensor for my car on eBay. It should be here in a few days. If that part doesn't fix the check engine light problem (after resetting it) then the car will be parked at the end of the month. Hence, the hunt for local maps. I need them to set my bus route schedule for my stores. I also surfed eBay for electric bikes. Thank goodness for PayPal/BillMeLater! I will be able to get one if I need to.

Boy, that paragraph above was sure all over the place! ;)

Oh, and today I went to Barnes & Noble (in that search for maps ...) and found 2 books I've been wanting! So, I renewed my membership (I meant to in Dec. before it expired!). I bought Chris Colfer's Struck by Lightning book and John & Carole Barrowman's Hollow Earth. They didn't have Chris' Land of Stories or John's Bone Quill or Torchwood Exodus Code. I want all those, too! I may have to order them from the website. I want the audiobook versions, too!

5:30pm
Well, that sucks! If I had bought those 2 books on the B&N website, I would've saved over $10! Damn. Plus, I had a coupon and didn't have it with me ... ugh.

9:45pm
Listened to part 8 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

Watched episode 3 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries. This is another show I really like a lot. There just aren't any good new shows on US TV that catch my attention like this one and Ripper Street. I tried to watch Touch last night. It was not good. The premise intrigued me, but the show is just all over the place. I will watch episode 2, but if it isn't better I won't watch it again.

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

February 13, 2013

12:30pm
Feeling much better today. Serviced one store here in town, paid a bill and stopped at an auto parts store to ask about free check engine light testing. No one in town does it anymore. I didn't think so, but wanted to double-check. So, came home and tried the old way of resetting the light. Didn't work. Didn't really expect it to, as I have tried it before ... So, tomorrow will see about getting a pre-test at my usual smog test place and see if it will show what the problem is. If not, I'm not going to worry about it. I'll drive the car until the end of the month and then park it until I have the money to bother taking it somewhere for a repair, if ever.

7:30pm
Listened to part 6 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

8:30pm
Sucks that there is no Criminal Minds tonight! But there is a new CSI.

Watching episode 2 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries, an Australian show.

WooHoo! You've just purchased this
1x "Radical-Man" limited edition T-shirt - Radical-Man-M
I just ordered a limited edition Gublerland t-shirt (4th in the series!) I have them all!

February 12, 2013

7:45am
Staying home again today. Headache kept me awake off and on all night, despite taking melatonin before bed.

12:30pm
Starting to feel a bit better finally.
I've gotten caught up on surveys and most of my email this morning.

7pm
Well, amazingly my cousin came over assuming I had the part for the car and was going to put it on for me! I don't have it. I didn't expect him to bother coming. Oh, well. I still had the remnants of my headache when he came by. So, tomorrow, I'll deal with some of the car issues. My headache is finally gone. I'm going to try to get a couple of my stores serviced and also pay a bill. If I have time I'll get a smog test done, whether it passes or not I really don't care at this point. I'd already made up my mind to start riding the bus and my bike a while ago. I'm just so sick of cars and gas and insurance ...

Listened to part 5 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

8:30pm
Watching episode 6 of Ripper Street. Can't wait until the next one!

February 11, 2013

1:15pm
Why is it that with one sentence my mother can piss me off and make me feel like shit at the same time? Being fifty certainly doesn't change a damn thing in my life ...

Still had a headache when I got up this morning. Real bad, but not migraine bad. So, I didn't go to work. Only have 5 stores on my schedule this week, so will do them tomorrow and Wed. Headache is almost gone now. I did go to the store and post office earlier and dropped off a few donations at GoodWill (and forgot a few ... so there is a new pile started.)

I'm giving away: 5 Amber Glass Dropper Bottles - Used. Check it out -

Haven't accomplished anything else ...

4:15pm
Having a lousy day. Headache is getting worse again. Trying to migrate into a migraine. I usually have migraines on the left side. This is on the right ...

May not work tomorrow if it doesn't clear up ...

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

Happy birthday to me. I made it to fifty. And ... the silence is deafening ... big whoop ...

10am

Spent the day making hat pins and packaging swaps. Would have been great if I didn't have a headache most of the day ... at least it's not a migraine!

Listened to part 3 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

8:30pm
Watching episode 4 of Ripper Street. I really like this show!

February 9, 2013

9:30am
Just walked to the mailbox with my mom and Nikky. Got my oil check early!! Yay. Will have to run to the bank later.
Right now I need to make a postcard and also clean the doves' cages.
After lunch today, I need to fix my mom's bed as apparently one of the wheels came off the frame overnight. Then, I need to get the old curtain rod out of the shed and put it up over the huge mirror in my mom's bathroom. She apparently has realized that taking the mirror down by myself will be too dangerous, so she is going to cover it with a curtain. And, she wants the new cabinet put up where I was originally going to put it last weekend ... grrr.

11am
Done with the doves and vacuumed their room. Decided to get wheels for their wire shelf unit (that their cages are on) to make it easier to vacuum all their feathers that get under the bottom shelf. Hope to do that by next weekend.

The noisy neighbors have been noisier than usual during the day (usually they are noisy at night ... grrr.) They have torn up part of their driveway, laid new cement and are extending their carport (their big truck barely fits under it right now.) Just so long as they don't mess with my fence that is half-way done on that side, I don't mind ... but, the noise is bad enough without the loud damn music!

2:30pm
I am exhausted and my bad shoulder is hurting. And, I'm getting a headache ... my mom is so annoying!!! But, I got the damn curtain rod AND the damn cabinet up AND took the wheels off of her bed frame! Grrr.

It's a grrr kind of day for me!

I'm too damn tired to go to the bank and store now ...

8:30pm
Well, I ended up going to the bank, Trader Joe's AND World Market this afternoon. I needed to get out. Got some yummy stuff! Got home at almost 5 and rushed to get dinner done at a decent hour. I had found a great acorn squash recipe I wanted to try and it turned out soooo good.

Listened to part 2 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

Just watched part 14 of Batman and Robin! One more part to go!

February 8, 2013

5pm
Another very long day for me. Serviced 2 stores and ... that's about it! I was in one of them for more than four hours! Glad I am off until Tuesday now.
Waiting for dinner. Leg of lamb. My mom is using her NuWave oven. I am beginning to despise it. All the fat is dripping off my meat!!!! :(

5:30pm
NuWave sucks. The leg has been cooking for 50 minutes ... 25 on each side. It is raw inside and burnt black on one side. I am so not impressed. Would have been quicker in the oven and retained the FAT!

7pm
Listening to part 1 of Superman - Knights of the White Carnation from 1947. There are 14 parts.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

8:30pm
Just watched part 3 of Batman and Robin!

Going to soak my feet in lavender Epsom salts and read another chapter of Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

February 7, 2013

6pm
Well, what a long day. I got 2 stores serviced, bought a few groceries at the co-op and spent almost an hour at the DMV to pay for my car registration so it's not late. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the car smogged by the end of the month ... I also picked up some information about the rules of the road for mopeds and other electric bikes, etc. I am really close to making up my mind to get something like that this summer. I really, really hate driving (especially all the expenses that go with it) and always have. I didn't even get my first driver's license until I was almost 19. Damn. I've been driving for over 30 years now! Yeah, going to do more research on the motorized bike. I don't want a motorcycle as I'd have to still pay for gas, insurance, yearly registration, a different type of driver's license and a helmet! I want something that does not require all that, but will still get me where I want to go. I'll still use my regular bike for close/short trips. And, the bus for bad weather or to take my mom places.

My mom's NuWave oven arrived today. WooHoo and Big Whoop. See, I'm real impressed ... not. Used it to make dinner. It was fairly quick. About 10 minutes for 2 pork chops, some asparagus tips and a big floret of broccoli. But, I think the chops were a bit too rare and the broccoli way too hard. But, for the first time using it ... OK, I suppose. My mom loves it already. I'd rather cook the old-fashioned way.

Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

Finally caught up on packaging a bunch of swaps to mail off tomorrow. I had enough stamps for all of them! Must buy more stamps now.

Just finished watching episode 3 of Ripper Street.

THE SEED OF THE DAY – Six You May Not Tried, But You Should - The Blue Lace Flower –...
11am
Trying to clean up my Facebook clutter. Haven't been to the site in 2 weeks or so. Unfriending lots.

6:45pm
Feeling much better now.
Cousin Curtis finally came by at about 5 (does this look like last Wed. at 2:30pm? Nooooo.) Six days after he said he would ... grrr. And, his brother's engine light tester did not fit my car! Figures. So, I'll have to try to find a place that does free testing this week ... going to pay for the car registration first, anyway, so it is not late. Just won't get the sticker for my license plate until the car passes the smog test ...
Curtis also brought over more of his mom's stuff that he doesn't want. So, I have a huge bin full of hardback books to sell or trade and my mom has a little cabinet she wanted. Not sure what is in the other bin, yet. We'll look through it tomorrow.

7:15pm
Listening to Superman - Dead Man's Secret part 11.

8pm
There was an 8.0 earthquake near the Solomon Islands about an hour ago. Luckily, they just cancelled the tsunami warnings. And, no deaths, it seems. So lucky.

Just finished making a couple of postcards for a swap. It was for using food packages to make postcards. Kind of hard for me to do when I don't eat processed foods. But, I had some little ones that went around cream cheese tubs that I adapted! I think they turned out alright! Check them out here: Grocery Box Postcard

10pm
Time for a new White Collar!

February 4, 2013

8am
Well, I have decided to stay home today. I did something yesterday to my left ear and it feels like there is cotton shoved down inside it! Can't hear a thing on that side and that is my bad ear, anyway. I have very scarred eustachion tubes due to continual ear infections when I was little, so my hearing has never been the best. One reason I hate phones; I can't hear on them very well. So, will try some remedies later and hopefully clear up the constant buzzing and cotton-feel.

Check out my yummy lunch over at QuinGem's Quisine!

1:30pm
This day is sort of dragging. My ear is still bothering me. Going to get the laundry put away and then flush my ear out again.

Listening to more swing music today. Such a fun musical era.

2:30pm
Not going to work in the yard today. I probably should, but this ear problem has me all out of sorts today ... Might go sit outside to read for a while. It is a nice day. About 65F right now.

February 3, 2013

8am
Today is my Papa's birthday. He was born 120 years ago today in Málaga, Spain. He's been gone 43 years, but I still miss him.
This picture was taken on Easter, 1965. He was 72 and I was 2 (I was born exactly 70 years and 7 days after him.) I still have that plant hanger that is in the background. It's hanging in my kitchen. I wish I still had that radio, but my dad sold it about ten years ago.

9:45am
Walked to the mailbox with Nikky and my mom again. She did well. Now she has a week to rest up before next weekend's walks. She has a bad knee that she is trying to build up so she can start riding the exercycle again.

I've started coating another set of paper beads. I have 2 sets of amber dropper bottles soaking before they get boiled. And, I am about to make a new batch of bentonite toothpaste.

11:30am
My mom is soooooooooooooo annoying. Now, instead of putting up her new bathroom cabinet on the short wall beside the sink, she wants me to remove the HUGE (4 x 6 foot) wall mirror above the sink to put the cabinet on that wall ... not doing it today.

12:30pm
Leftover beef heart cubed and fried in butter for lunch! Yummy.

I actually got my mom to do some yard work today! She cut the dead patio roses in pieces and put in the garbage. Of the 5 we bought last year, only one survived ... ;(

I'm giving away: Handmade Paper Beads - 100. Check it out -

6:30pm
Got my exercises done and read a chapter in Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

Wow. That was a damn good show! Wish the US made good shows these days. Seems all the US makes is reality shows any more ... with a very few exceptions.

OMG! Love this. Just snagged it from G+.

February 2, 2013

9:45am
Off to a pretty good start this morning. Load of laundry running in the washer; doves' cages cleaned; Nikky, Ezra and my nails clipped; postcards cut out for swaps to make handmade postcards later today.

Listening to Jim Croce's I Got A Name and Photographs & Memories - His Greatest Hits this morning.

10:30am
Just got back from walking to the mailbox. It's 53F. Cool, but not cold. But, Nikky wore her jacket. Met the biggest dog that lives in our mobile home park (there is a 20 lb. limit, but I think he was 'grandfathered' in.) He's a huge pit bull mix, but a big softie. Nikky tried to eat him! My mom made the whole walk for the first time in a long time. After all the walking in the store yesterday, I didn't expect her to. She wants to walk tomorrow, too. Good.

Noon
Whew! Laundry's done; bed's made; shelves in my mom's closet are sturdy with extra brackets. Now for lunch! Bacon & fried eggs and spinach. Yum!

Making postcards and more paper beads are getting coated.

Listening to some old Swing music. Fun.

4:30pm
Nikky and I spent about an hour outside working in the yard. She protected me from annoying travelling religion-pushers and the little neighbor dogs. She's such a good girl sometimes! Ha!

Came in and got the dinner snack ready. I'm making chocolate-stuffed dates sprinkled with coconut. My mom is making beef heart on the rotisserie. Good stuff.

I love how this postcard turned out!

6:30pm
Got my exercises done and read a chapter in
Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

I'm giving away: Jumbo Rubber Bands - 5. Check it out -

Finally got the beads coated. Will list them tomorrow.

Decided to finally set up the TracFone I bought in December! If I can figure it all out. It's charging right now. Will activate it tomorrow.

8:45pm
Just watched the first episode of a new Australian series, The Doctor Blake Mysteries! It's pretty good. I love vintage era shows. This one takes place in the 40s, I believe. Love all the old cars!

Going to soak my feet in lavendar Epsom salts and read another chapter of Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon.

Arrgh! Broke again until Thursday! Got some good meat, though. And a few other things.

I'm cleaning more dropper bottles to add to Listia. The previous bottles did well!
