Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant filled with odd little waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don't always like. - Lemony Snicket

I have to head to cousin's house after I clean cages today. Told him I'd be there around 1. Doesn't take long to change the part. If I had the right tools, I'd do it myself ... I hope this solves the check engine light problem ... I hope to get the smog test done on Wednesday.

4:15pm
I'm bad. I don't turn my phone on to check if I have any messages. No one ever calls, so why bother. Right? Cousin called. Had a change of plans because he remembered he had previous plans with a friend ... I got to his house right before he had to leave ... so, he will come here tomorrow to change the part for me ... oh, well. If he'd email, I would always get his messages ...

It's good that I had planned to stay home tomorrow (the office in RI is closed for meetings or something ...)

I'm a happy camper! I rescued all my saved emails. Over 11,000 of them! I am such a packrat ... some go back to 2008! Maybe more ... but, there is a lot of info that I refer back to, so didn't want to lose any of them.
Now, I just have to go through the files that were on my old desktop and transfer them to the new desktop and I'll be able to wipe the old hard drive and just use it as a regular external HD.

I didn't volunteer at TROTR this morning. I didn't feel too good this morning and last night I thought I broke a toe ... now, I think it is just bruised badly. :/

One of my chicks has cross beak ... :/ So, if it doesn't correct itself as the chick grows ... dinner!

8:15am
If anyone missed any of my blog posts from a few days ago, go to my blog and you can find them. I had a major computer problem. Still not completely solved, but I now have a new computer!! It's refurbished, but new to me! And, it runs on Win7! It's an HP Compaq. Haven't had one in years, but I think I really like it. And, it has so many USB ports that I don't need a hub!! It also has built-in speakers, but I can switch to external speakers.
Now, I just need to exchange the HD enclosure I got yesterday for the correct one. I took the old internal HD with me, to make sure that I got the right one! The salesman was wrong!! Grrrr. The attachments are not the same.

Got the part for my car (again) and hope this one is the correct one. Will have cousin Curtis change it this weekend and hope it solves the check engine light problem so I can get the smog test done, finally ...

4pm
Got my HD enclosure and it is working. Now, to go through it and find all the files I wanted to keep ...
And, my cousin will work on my car on Sunday afternoon.

I did not get any more chicks today ... :( All my play money went to the computer, so nothing extra for chicks this week. Maybe next week ...

6pm
Found all my IncrediMail files! So, this weekend, I'll be installing the program on this new computer and replacing the files with my old ones, so I can get my saved emails. I've had to do this before. It's just time-consuming ...

Time to start installing some of my favorite programs, now.

February 22, 2016

List of things to do:
100 jumps on the trampoline - done
Recycle TV, glass and CRV bottles -done
Sew - done
Replace printer ink - done
Move bookshelf out of critter room - done

8am
I can't believe I just harvested 3 tomatoes from the plants that will not die! There are still tons more green ones on it! And, the pepper plants never died, but the peppers are sooooo tiny, I can't harvest them. And, the lemon tree has tons of flowers. Hopefully, they won't all get blown off on the next big wind.

6:15pm
Well, I have no idea if I had anything else written on this ... can't remember if I saved before I left the house at 9. Came home to find my computer off and I can not get it to turn back on ... there was a fire in one of the mobile homes across from the office and the power went out in the whole park around 1pm (according to my mom.) Wasn't out for long. But, every time the power goes out, my desktop computer gets messed up ... might not be fixable this time. So, I am on my laptop right now. Normally, the computer would have been off while I was gone, but I was downloading some stuff!!!!

8:15am
Forgot to mention the recipe I made for dinner last night. If you like very hot, spicy food, you'll love this Spicy Shredded Chicken Recipe The leftovers are being mixed with wild rice for tonight's dinner.

It is damn cold again this morning, after a week of not feeling like I was freezing. I wish weather was gradual in it's warming and cooling throughout the year, rather than back and forth every few days!

Today's to do list:
100 jumps on the trampoline - done
Breed Parker and Sheriff - done (bunnies due March 20)
Clean incense holders - done
Sort plastic recycling and put in car - done, sort of ... sorted it all and there's really not enough to take, yet ... so, I also sorted the CRV and other glass to take instead.
Put plasma TV in car for recyclying - done! That damn thing is toooooo heavy!

The great thing about this time of year is the abundance of greens for my bunnies that sprout up in my tiny yard. Twice a day I go out and collect fresh greens (weeds to most people) for their breakfast and dinner.

3pm
I got my list done! That TV was a bitch! It's the one my cousin gave us a few months ago. Damn thing was always turning itself off and on! Got so tired of my mom complaining about it! So away it goes!

I can't believe how quiet and content the two chicks are. I really expected the noise level in the critter room to be much louder (like it was the first day with their crying - VERY loud peeps.) But, I still only hear the doves cooing. Hopefully, this will be the norm, even when I add more on Thursday - 2 Silver Lace Wyandottes.

9:15pm
Random pic from my FaceBook timeline for the day. This is something I would love to see up close ... I've been to Yosemite and seen these waterfalls, but not in February, with the sun hitting them 'just right' to create a 'firefall'.

6:15pm
I bought 2 Ameraucana chicks yesterday. The beginning of my tiny flock. They are three days old today. Terrible pictures. Kinda dark and blurry ...
After crying for over an hour, the chicks were happily snuggled in bed. I hung an old feather duster next to their heating pad and they crawled under it! You can see the little gray one's butt! :) They are in a huge old 30-gallon aquarium. So they can easily get away from the heat source if they need to. The heating pad is hung against one end. Many people use a heating lamp for chicks, but I don't like messing with their natural day/night cycle by having a light on them 24 hours a day until they can regulate their own temperature.
I don't think I mentioned it, but Zihna (hamster) died about a week ago. She was almost 2! The only hamster left is Cassia. Anyway, the tank the chicks are in had been Zihna's.
Next week, I may be getting 2 Silver Lace Wyandotte chicks. Possibly.

Oh, I am still doing the list of things to do each day. This is today's list -
100 jumps on the trampoline - done
Butcher 3 doves - done
Sew - done
Check bathroom paint and spackle (to see if they are still any good) - done - the paint is still good, but I need new spackle - I WILL finish painting my bathroom this year!
Rename newest video files (Set of James Bond movies and all 9 seasons of CSI New York) - done

I have a stubborn cough, so did not stay at TROTR long this morning. I would have stayed home, but I had already bought 24 apples to treat the 23 horses and Donkey. So, I took them their treat and then came home. Next time, I will remember to bring treats for the other animals (rabbits, bull, llamas, goats and a mini pig.)

Last weekend, I got the part for my car ... I thought ... I got a regular oxygen sensor, but I was supposed to get a fuel/air ratio oxygen sensor! They look almost exactly the same! So, waiting for it to arrive and hope that clears the check engine light for good so I can get the car to pass the smog test!

Renewed my driver's license a couple weeks ago. First time in about 15 years that I had to go to the DMV, rather than just renew online. New picture and thumbprint required ...

February 10, 2016

It's my birthday! I'm 53 ... Are we having any fun, yet?! Of course not! It's just another day around here ... :/
But, the cages are clean! And, we have bunnies! Patty had a rough pregnancy, near the end. But, she's a little trooper! She bled early (2/2); she had 1 little black bunny on Wed. night - 2/3 (I found him the next morning, cold on her floor - she had NOT started plucking hair, yet - and got him warmed up on a heating pad and then covered in a baby blanket and hay in the nest box before I had to go to work.) He did not survive; my mom found him dead at lunch time. Then, on Friday (2/5), she plucked hair all day and had 5 perfect little bunnies. There are 4 black and one mis-marked Dutch. They are 5 days old, now.
12:30pm
Work has been so incredibly 'busy' the past month or so. Every chain of stores seems to be wanting their displays reset RIGHT NOW! And, the resets all take 3-6 hours each! And, of course, the other stores still need their regular service and we can't go over 8 hours a day (including travel time!) and can't go over 26 hours a week, including project and travel time! Ugh. And, I don't work Wednesdays and we aren't allowed to work weekends ... so, really ... :/ Trying hard not to go over the alloted times takes up more time, trying to figure out the numbers ...

7:30pm
Made Gluten-Free Oven Baked Chicken for dinner tonight. Turned out pretty good. No picture ... I didn't have GF Bisquik (didn't know it existed ...) but, I had some GF Krusteaz mix. Worked fine. Also, had some raw sauerkraut with pepper flakes and garlic powder mixed in.
