June 29, 2013

It is 100F ... and climbing.
It's been a busy morning. Got all the cages (2 doves' & 2 rabbit cages) cleaned and the critters well-fed. Cleaned the floor under the rabbits and the rug under the doves. Did a load of laundry. Cleaned the sliding glass door windows and the wall around it. Took down the curtains and the crappy traverse rod. Filled the holes. Now waiting for the curtains to finish washing to put in the dryer. After they are dry, we'll measure for the new rod to go up. Hopefully it will last longer than that other one did. That one just could not handle the weight of the full-length curtains.
Made a banana/pineapple/raw kefir smoothie for lunch. Not bad as they are 2 of my least favorite fruits, but my mom wanted that. She doesn't like milk kefir, so I didn't tell her that's what was used! haha!
I also took the BBQ out to the deck and got it set up to make dinner. Going to barbecue turkey thighs and baked potatoes on the BBQ!

106F ...
Just finished with the curtains. Only put two of the panels up. The other two will have to wait until next week. I need more rings! At least the door is covered ... starting the BBQ late, so we probably won't be eating until 6 or so ...

OMG! Dinner turned out soooo good!!! I am loving cooking with the BBQ! The potato skins are blackened, even having been foil-wrapped, but the flesh is perfection. The turkey thighs are really good with crispy skin, just the way I like them. Mmmm.

I am so jealous of the neighbors. Their house is looking really nice with the new siding. But, they really needed it. Daisy told me they had leaks everywhere ... the roof, the walls, the windows ... they had remodeled inside last year, but they should've done the outside first as their wood floors were starting to get ruined already. Wish I had the money to do all that ... but, the emergency of getting the water heater last fall and then the furnace not long after kind of put me far behind on the big remodeling ... so, I do little things like fencing and curtain rods for now.

Gah! My electricity bill is going to be very high next month. I still have the A/C on. I rarely use it past 6pm. It is 96F right now with a heat index of 98F! Going to be hard to get any sleep in this heat.

I'm gonna watch Dracula before bed. Classic!

June 28, 2013

I've been up for about 3 hours, but I feel like I'm in slow motion today. I have plans, but I don't expect I will accomplish too much ...
I need to get a sale packaged and go to the post office, though. So, I better get to that ...

Got that packaged.

Tried to pay a bill online, but their billing site is down! So, I have to take the car, after all. Not up to traveling that far on my eBike to pay the bill ... it's already too hot ...

We are supposed to have a heatwave for the next week - over 102F.

I plan on barbecuing lunch and dinner today and tomorrow ... I'm going to wilt out there later ... but, with using the A/C so much each day, it will save some electricity not using the oven. I guess since I am going to use the car today, I'll stop at Home Depot and get more charcoal ... it's actually cheaper there for the brand I like than at the grocery store.

Pork steaks are on the BBQ for lunch. Mmm. Also having raw dill & garlic sauerkraut with it.

Got a flyer in the mail from the cable company. They announced a couple weeks ago they'd be doing an upgrade in July. This flyer is offering a free digital box for one year since some of the Basic channels are moving to the higher Digital level ... So, I'm going to get one on Monday for my mom's TV.

AAARRRGGH!! I swear my work is out to kill me! Seems every day they are changing things with the schedule. They are changing our payday to Fridays (I've been getting paid on Thurs. for nearly 11 years ...); we can't work over 18 hours core per week (an extra 10 if we have projects for a max of 28 hours total) ... but, now there is a special push on select chains of stores so we are now allowed to have 40 hours a week the first 2 weeks of July ... I had my schedule all figured out for the new short hours! ugh. It's good I learned to make my schedule in pencil years ago ...

Got a load of laundry washed and dried on the line. Barbecued lunch. Going to barbecue dinner. Started a crockpot of lamb bone broth. Boiling the bones on high right now. Will add the veggies later. Now, I need to shake out the rugs in the laundry room and my bathroom and clean the floors and fixtures. I might actually accomplish something today! I'm also going to replace all the batteries on the 3 wall clocks.

Well, I guess I got a lot done the past couple of hours. Most of the bathroom and laundry room is clean. Moved a shelf into my bathroom. Did the rugs and floors. Cleaned the toilet and sink area. Didn't get the closet or under the sink organized or the shower scrubbed like I wanted to ... maybe tomorrow.
Just added the veggies to the lamb stock. Set the marinated chicken legs out and started the BBQ again. Nikky is eating chicken feet. She loves them raw, but for some reason my mom NUKED them! Yuck ... I wish she would stop using that damn thing!

104F ... way tooo hot. Gotta go check the briquets.

I am so far behind on my G+ and FaceBook feeds, I'll never catch up. So, I think I will stay away from them for a few days (other than posting a few things here and there) and not read everything. Then, I'll start fresh ... Twitter is so much easier to keep up with.

Looks like I did accomplish some stuff today. Forgot to change the clock batteries, though. It's not like I don't have 2 clocks on my computer, and a little alarm clock in my bathroom ... I have an over-abundance of clocks and watches around here ... hmmm.

June 25, 2013

I got the new cages for the bunnies! I was surprised to see the boxes by the stairs when I pulled into the driveway this afternoon. I didn't expect them until Friday!
So, once I get my paperwork done and my things ready for work tomorrow, I set about putting them together. It was super-easy! I love the antiqued silver look to them. Robin and Sheree have plenty of room in them and I can roll them out to the deck when the weather is nice.
In the first pic, they are in the old cages, waiting impatiently for me to finish.
The cages out of the boxes ...
And, put together ... Nikky checked them out.
All set up ...

It's been over a week since they've actually seen each other and they both gravitated to the inner bars to lay next to each other. Very sociable.
And, yes, Robin always wads his bed up like that! It starts out flat, like Sheree's, but doesn't stay that way!

Feeding time!

Cucumber, sweet potato, red lettuce - all organic. Plus, some grass hay, striped sunflower seeds and a tiny bit of rabbit kibble-crap (they get very little of that stuff.) Thursday, Sheree will be getting a glass water bottle and hay manger - finally! Then, she won't have 4 bowls taking up so much space.
It's too dark now to take a pic, but Ezra is sleeping under their cages.

June 22, 2013

It's a hot one today. It's 92F right now, but tomorrow is supposed to have a drastic cool-down in front of a storm coming. I can't wait!

Nikky and I walked to the mailbox this morning. Left a note for the mail-lady that I have an out-going Priority mail. Still hasn't shown up! I should have just taken it to the PO myself ... grrr. It's the first time I've tried that. Won't bother in future.

It took me nearly 2 hours to clean all the cages this morning. I can't wait for the new bunny cages!!! It's so easy to clean the doves' cages.

I have a load of laundry on the line.

Soaking some wild rice for dinner. My mom forgot again. Should have started soaking them this morning. It's weird, because she always soaked the (white) rice as well as beans when I was little. Then, she got out of the habit. I'm having to re-train her! Gah!

I can't wait until Daisy & Martin are done with their new house siding replacement! At least it is not overly noisy for long, but the workers do not clean up after themselves! Every morning I have to pick up weird pieces of insulation and other stuff that blows under my carport ...

Just filled out the paperwork to renew the CARE program for our utilities. We're still way under their poverty level, so still qualify.

Shock! The monitor for my XP came on! I can burn some DVDs or CDs! First time in a week!

I just finished watching an old classic horror movie with Vincent Price - House of Wax. It was the first 3D movie made by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The mail lady JUST came. Talk about late! But, at least my package is on its way now ...

June 20, 2013

Gah! Told you before my critters are so spoiled. I just spent over $300 on 2 rabbit cages ... nuts. But, they will be much easier to keep clean and I can roll them out on the deck for the bunnies to get fresh air.
They should arrive by next Friday.

Two weeks in a row, my farmer has not been home when I go out there ... luckily, I still had milk left last week, but this week I only have a half gallon left, so I had to get some Organic Pastures raw milk at the store. Expensive! I pay my farmer $10/gal. OP was $9/half gallon!!!!! And, it's in a plastic jug, not glass. So, poured it into a glass jug when I got home. Sucks. I won't be able to go out to the farm again until next week ...

I am still having trouble figuring out how to fit everything into my work schedule. Trying to keep the core hours at 18 will be very tricky. Damn ridiculous 'healthcare' act. I can't imagine many companies keeping full-time employees much longer. Everyone will have part-time just so they won't have to pay for the insurance ... The government had to see this coming. A lot of states are going to go bankrupt trying to cover everyone.

This day has flown by, but I was also pretty busy for most of it. I got 2 stores serviced and went to the co-op. Got home around 4 after I went to the farm and no-one there and then went to the only store here in Woodland with raw milk ... anyway, I have 1 store to service tomorrow. I might do two others, but haven't decided yet ... We'll see how tomorrow goes.

June 19, 2013

It's been a long day. I didn't get home until nearly 4. So, I didn't get the rabbits cages cleaned today ... but, I did decide to get new cages that are easier to keep clean. It's really hard to clean a cage that weighs over 50 lbs. & is not on wheels. It was fine 25 years ago when I first bought it for puppies, but it is no longer ideal for rabbits. And, the smaller cage that Sheree is in, is not in the best condition, either. So, I am waiting on an inquiry on 2 cages I want to get on eBay. The seller is contacting the manufacturer for me to answer a question I have about the flooring in the cage. It has to be a certain 'spacing' due to Sheree's handicapped leg. I hope to order them today, but depends on how quickly I get an answer.

It is frustrating having to change my work schedule to accomodate the new rules on weekly hours. I've been doing this for almost 11 years. So, have to get used to all this new stuff again because of the stupid health insurance plan. I wish it would get over-turned or something.

There just are not enough hours in the day for everything I want to get done! Then, I get side-tracked teaching the neighbors more about healthy eating. Luckily, Criminal Minds is a re-run as I missed the first ten minutes ...

June 18, 2013

I don't want to go to work!

That was the start of my blog yesterday (and as far as my blogging got yesterday!) ... same sentiments today. Anyway, I got 4 stores serviced yesterday in West Sacramento. Today, I hope to do 4 stores again today, here in Woodland. I'm going to ride my eBike. I have the new store set-up to do, as they finally got their new display yesterday. Depending on how long that takes, I will hopefully get 3 other stores done, too. We'll see.

I didn't get home until nearly 5 yesterday and was so worn out. It is supposed to be cooler today.

I need to get some produce for the bunnies today on my way home, too. Used the last of the lettuce this morning.

Well, thanks to the new US 'healthcare' plan, my company is making it mandatory that no one can work more than 28 hours in a week. No problem, I never do (& I don't have health ins. anyway ...) But, there are some who relied on more hours than that. Sucks ... I think a lot more companies are going to do that.

Well, yes, I am lazy! ;) I only did my new store set-up today and then went to the grocery for a few things. Got home before noon. I'll do the other 3 stores on Friday.

Time to hang up some laundry on the line.

Ooh, my butternut squash plant looks like it might already be getting flowers! My basil is blooming. I want it to re-seed, so I'm going to let it. And, the potatoes are also doing great. Lots of greenery above-ground, so hopefully, lots of spuds below.

Gah! Daisy just gave us a bunch of aloe vera plants! I have nowhere to put them! My mom is happy. She loves all those damn succulents ...

Heating up the barbecue for more ribs for dinner.

I'm going to watch Francis the Talking Mule. Haven't seen it in years.

June 16, 2013

Can't believe this month is more than half over ... Almost summer.

I just got finished cleaning out some shelves in the shed. Found a few things I needed, got rid of some stuff, found something to add to my Bonanza shop and made a bit of room. Also getting rid of all the old paint cans (still have paint in them) that I don't even know how old they are. May have been from when I was little. They had been in my dad's garage forever. Don't know why I kept them. I'll be taking them to the next disposal event for that sort of thing. There are 12 of them! I even found a bottle of toxic Monsatan Round-Up!!! ugh.

Now, I'm waiting for my mom to go out and work on that damn fence ...

Got all the panels up for the fence that we had. I need to get six more to finish it all. Then, I need to get posts for extra support and to put the gate up. But, that will be for another time.
Load of laundry hanging on the line.

Going to research this drill bit set I found. Won't fit my drill, so it will go up in my Bonanza shop.

I got the drill bits that I found listed. They are like new, except for the case is scuffed up.

It's been a fairly relaxed afternoon. Got some files moved around on the computer.
Got all of my work files ready for the coming week.
Just took a bunch of pics of the critters.
They're all spoiled ...

June 15, 2013

Well, I forgot yesterday was Flag Day!!! So, I didn't put my flag out. :(

Just got finished putting up the little decorative fence around the brick box in front. I had to run to Home Depot for a fourth set of panels. I'm not really happy with it, but it will do until I have the money to get the other parts I'm going to attach to it. I am going to put sturdy iron posts with hanging baskets at either end by the wall. I am also going to get 2 stained glass decorative panels and attach them in the front (equal distance from each other) that will also make it sturdier. But, no money at the moment. Probably by the end of the month, I'll be able to. I wouldn't have put it up without the other parts I want, but someone kept bugging me about it! Tomorrow she wants to put up the rest of the other fence. And, no, I don't have all the parts for that, either ... If they all fall down, she can put them back up ...

Apparently, we're having barbecue chicken for dinner ...

Need to find something for lunch and then it's cage-cleaning time. I may put the doves out for some sunshine once theirs' are done. I need to take the bunnies out to eat some weeds, too. If I do, I'll take pics. They'll go out one at a time, so Robin doesn't get ideas about Sheree again!

It's really fucked up that I have to explain things step-by-step to my 73-year-old mom so she will help me clean cages ... and, no, she does not have any mental problems, she's always been like this. If she doesn't want to do something, she acts like a 5-year-old and just stands there until you prompt her to do something. It took twice as long to do them. So, now I have a whole thirty minutes to rest until I start the grill for dinner ... pissed. The doves did get some outside time and the bunnies ran around the house, but didn't go outside ... too hot now. I'll cut them some weeds later.

I did finally get the ceiling fan blades clean and tightened before I started cleaning the cages, though.

Doing a load of laundry ...

June 14, 2012

I has BBQ! Check it out on my food blog: Barbecue!

This day has flown by. But, the barbecue is cleaned up. Ashes are wet and cold in a metal bucket and BBQ washed down and is folded up in the living room. Will be making room in the shed for it this weekend. I'll be spreading the ashes in the yard tomorrow. The ground will love it.

We're going to finally put the decorative fencing around the brick box in front of our space tomorrow. Then, I'll clean cages in the afternoon.

Oh, my mom got another letter in the mail today about her SS. It was like 'oh, never mind, we'll keep sending you your original amount'. They need to make up their minds! So, now, she'll be back to the amount she had been getting since January ... the government makes no sense.

I can't believe we've had Ezra for 2 years today. Time sure flies ...

June 13, 2013

Well, still a bit sick. I hope to go to the post office later, but might not until tomorrow. I still have to work tomorrow morning. The new store set-up got postponed until next Tuesday as the display won't get there until then ... but, there is another store I really should do tomorrow that has a special project.

I'm made of money, apparently. My mom just came in telling me she wants the Pocket Hose ... damn TV commercials. That's how I got stuck with that crappy NuWave oven, among a few other things ... we have 2-50 foot hoses ... put she wants these ... Sure, they look cool, but I don't have extra money in my PayPal right now, if they take PayPal ... haven't read the site yet. Guess I will be looking up reviews for it ... ugh.

Ha! Not getting that piece of crap. Horrible reviews! She'll just have to deal with the hoses we have.

What the hell happened to this day? It just zoomed by me ... I did get some lemonade made. And, I just started an experiment with some milk kefir. I'll see if it worked tomorrow. Didn't accomplish anything else ... oh, I did get a load of laundry done ... :/

Dinner was very spicy.

June 12, 2013

Today is crash day. I thought I crashed the other day. Nope. Today is the day. Feel really blah. Luckily, so far, the migraine I thought was coming yesterday hasn't hit ... hope it doesn't. May stay home today ... the goal of 15 stores this week has failed! But, luckily none are late, so can just shift them over a few days to next week. Think I'm just going to stay home and rest today (other than cleaning the rabbit cages.)
Hopefully, I can get some kefir made later. And, some sun tea.

Just got done cleaning the rabbit cages and giving them their late breakfast. They usually get fed by 7:30am ... Robin was not a happy camper about waiting. He kept thumping. He does that when he is angry or upset. Sheree just kept standing up on her hind legs at her door. Some pics of them feasting!

They had carrot with tops, cucumber, sweet potato, parsnip, cilantro, clover sprouts and Romaine-type lettuce (can't remember the name of it ...)
Tomorrow, I'm buying Sheree a manger for her hay and dry foods and a glass water bottle. Will give her more floor space in her cage.
Also, I plan to replace Nikky's stolen seatbelt harness and blanket that were in the bike cart that was stolen along with my bike. Later in the month I hope to replace the cart. I won't be replacing the bike, since I use the eBike.

Still not feeling the best. So, I might stay home tomorrow, too ... I'll know when I get up if I'm in driving condition ... Regardless, I will have to work on Friday as I have a new store set-up here in town. I can walk there, it's that close to me.

June 11, 2013

Couldn't get to sleep right away last night, so was up until about 1am. Decided to work on the plumbing this morning rather than go to work. If I get done soon enough, I 'might' go service a store. We'll see how it goes. From everything I've read about this little gadget I bought yesterday ... it should work like a charm ... I'll find out later!

And, I feel a migraine coming on ... sucks. Probably stress from the heat Saturday and the plumbing. Taking feverfew and willow bark right now.

OMG! Wow! I tell ya, the purchase I made yesterday of the little plumbing gadget. The. Best. The best $12 I've ever spent on plumbing supplies. I'm going to buy the other 2 sizes to have on hand. This will be my go-to-first with clogs in the future. Fifteen minutes and done! The hardest part was dragging the hose up the steps and into the house. Check it out!

Gonna go see if I can get any stores serviced (leaving an hour later than usual) and get some fresh produce for the bunnies. I really need to get a manger and water bottle for Sheree, too.

I did get 2 stores serviced. I also went to the big produce stand in Dixon and then to the co-op in Davis and bought lots of produce - leafy greens, fruits and root veggies. The bunnies are in heaven! I love feeding them a natural diet. And, Sheree seems to have almost doubled in size in the two days she's been in her own 'room'! Robin misses her. But, he is so ornery! I always let them out when I am getting their dinner ready (separately now) ... he has finally gotten over not liking the kitchen floor and discovered the living room. It was bad enough when he'd hide behind things in the doves' room, now he's finding a hundred more places to hide in the living room! Took me nearly 30 minutes tonight to get him to go back in his room and eat his dinner! And, Ezra was no help! Like two little boys causing trouble!

Monday, June 10, 2013

June 10, 2013

It's supposed to be about 30 degrees cooler today than Saturday! I love the Delta Breeze!
I woke up about 1 am and thought I heard thunder. When I got up at 7am, it didn't look like it had rained, though it was cloudy. Just read the local weather news and there was dry lightning last night here in Yolo County and a few other places. It sparked some fires, but luckily, none here in Woodland.

4 pm
I am still a bit 'off' from Saturday's heat, so I only got 1 store serviced, rather than the 3 I planned ... but, I did go to Home Depot this morning and splurged on a few things. I got a hose attachment that will hopefully clear my clogged pipe. I will try that tomorrow, since the lye and boiling water didn't do anything today. I also finally got a barbecue! It's not the one I really want to get, but I'm tired of waiting. It's still in the car trunk. I didn't tell my mom, yet. Plus, I priced the drain pipes and joints that I will need. If the plumbers quote more than $100 when I call around on Thurs. (if my experiment doesn't work tomorrow), I'm just going to cut the pipe out and replace it. It'll cost me about $50 to replace that whole 20-foot section of pipe. And, I've replaced pipe before. I just didn't really want to ...

It is 65F right now. I think it only got to 69F today. But, I am so hot and I have the little desk fan aimed at me ... so, still not feeling that great. But, I have a lot to do tomorrow regardless of how I feel ...

Sunday, June 9, 2013

June 9, 2013

Another day, still a clogged pipe. But, I finally got one of the other pipes to open - the exhaust line (I think that's what it's called) - so, I was able to flush to the T- joint and can tell the clog is definitely between the kitchen and that T-joint. But, still can't get it to move. So, closed up all the pipes again and poured lye in the sink and in the exhaust pipe opening (which is in the kitchen closet, of all places - I couldn't get the bolt out of the top yesterday, possibly due to the suction of the pipe being closed ... so once I took the pipe apart under the house, the bolt came up after it was unscrewed ...) Anyway, hopefully, the lye is working now or the next step is breaking a section of pipe that doesn't have joints that unscrew ... I hate working with PVC pipes ...

It is soooo much cooler today, which is really helping me as I am really tired from yesterday's heat.

I am going to get one of the FlyLady's Clog Cannon's next week. I really hate plungers and can never really get them to work well. Plus, both of ours are old and one of them has a crack so will be tossing it later today.

Operation Clog-buster is a big fail. I crashed and burned about an hour ago. I did way too much in the heat yesterday. I did try my experiment this morning, but it did not work. So, I put everything back together and cleaned up my mess. I'll keep working on plunging and lye. But, I can't do any more under the house. If the clog doesn't work loose by Thursday (payday) I will call Bonney and a few other plumbers and get quotes ...

Have the 3rd load of wash drying. Hung 1 load outside, 1 on the railing and 1 is in the dryer ...

Swept and mopped my bathroom floor and the laundry room floor.

Washed a bunch of dishes in my bathroom sink.

Tried to order the Clog Cannon from the FlyLady shop and there is no PayPal button! I have bought things there in the past and always used PayPal! Sent them a note and waiting for a response, now, as to whether they no longer accept it or it's a glitch ...

Dinner was yum. I don't feel like going to my other blog, so here it is - fried hot dogs topped with raw sauerkraut and black pepper; frozen raspberries topped with chilled raw cream (thanks for the idea, Steve Cooksey!); raw milk.
OK. I got the basics set up for my new group - QuinGem's Swaparama. It is kind of in cognito, as I put it under a genre that is not really what the group is about. So, what you see on the home page is not really what the group is. The group is for sharing our movie, music, etc. files. When you join, you'll get a file telling what the group is really for. I'll be inviting some people later, as it is a closed, invite only group. Who knows, I might get more than 2 people that will participate! Ha!

I think I may have to start watching Teen Wolf - lots of slashiness in it apparently! ;) My slash friends will know what I mean by that!

Work this week is going to be insane! I have to try to get 15 stores done in 5 days and not go over 8 hours each day ... and one of them is a new store set-up on Friday ... plus, get the clog situation settled, go to the farm on Thursday, among other things. I don't know how people who work 40 hours a week do it. I don't know how I did it all those years ago and I worked a minimum of 100 hours a week ... I must have been insane at the time ... turns out I didn't accomplish much doing that. Certainly no money left to show for it! Just the memories of Quinn and Gemini ... I sure miss them at times.

Sorry I sent some of you the wrong link to my new group. Hope you got the direct invites.

June 8, 2013

I have had no help with anything today ... grrr.
Since 9am, I have rode my ebike to the Dollar Tree for lye. Got home, put lye in the sink and then cleaned the doves' 2 cages and the rabbits' 2 cages. Vacuumed the doves' room. Mopped under Robin's cage. Fed/watered everyone. Took their garbage out. And, spent the rest of that time tripping over Nikky and keeping Ezra out of the cupboard under the sink while I tried to get the sinks draining. Had to take the pipes out again and was able to get the snake to get past the curved pipe in the wall and down about 20 feet and there must be another curve at that point under the house. Couldn't go any further. So, I poured more lye. And, finally, my mom came out of her room and offered to make me lamb roast for lunch. So, waiting for that to cook while I wait to see if the lye will work. If not ... after I eat I will be going under the house and see what can be done from that angle. I may need to see if I can back-flush from the end pipe like I did when the main drain clogged a couple years ago. Also, need to hang the load of cleaning towels I just washed out on the line. It is already 98F. Supposed to get to 106F today. It got to 105F yesterday ... ugh.

I'm beyond exhausted ... it's 108F. I've been working on the damn clog steadily for about 4 hours. Still can't get to it ... tomorrow is supposed to be cooler ... I WILL conquer the clog! Damn it!

My back is killing me and so are my hands ... and I bruised my arm on the edge of the kitchen sink yesterday using the plunger ... ugh.

June 7, 2013

I've got to keep saying. This is a good day. This is a good day. And, it is ... sort of.
Went to the farm and got 2 gallons of milk.
Came home and cleaned the rest of the stuff off the driveway. Got rid of the last of the old car parts my dad had that were in 2 old galvanized garbage cans. Those are behind the shed now. My mom wants to use them as planters ... I need to get some more black paint before I do that, though. Saved back a few car parts and odds and ends that I know I can sell or use, so put them in the house with the rest of my 'for sale' stuff.
Came in and my mom starts bitching about the kitchen sink backing up. So, I've spent the last couple of hours fighting with that. I finally had to resort to poison ... so, waiting for the lye to do its job. Yuck.

I want to clean the ceiling fan blades, but that will have to wait until after lunch now.

Have a load of wash hanging on the line now.

Oh, I did test out cleaning the brass lamp stand with lemon. It works way better than the brass cleaner I was using. I used almost the whole bottle and was nowhere near done. I'll finish off the bottle just for the heck of it, but I think the lemons will really do the trick. I'm also going to try vinegar. There is still a LOT of rubbing to do! But, I can see real progress now.

Damn. Even the lye isn't working. What the heck is clogging the pipe? I sure don't want to have to take the pipe off to clear it ... Eating, then getting my clothes off the line before they are totally sun-bleached. Then, I'll get back to the clog ...
I'm having a grilled Jalapeño Jack cheese sandwich (sourdough rice bread) with slices of heirloom tomato in it. The cheese is so melty! Yum!

This is not how I wanted to spend my day. Still can't clear the line. Took all the pipes under the sink out and cleaned them. There was no clog in any of them. Tried to snake the line away from them and can't get the snake to curve down the wall! Ugh. I did not want to take the wall pipe out! I will have to go under the house and pull out insulation to get to it! I don't want to!!! So, poured the last of the lye and hope it will work. If not ... tomorrow I'll be crawling under the house and getting really messy ... all the other lines are clear - washer, both bathrooms. So, it is just that one line, thank goodness. Has to be grease build-up or something. We're careful about what we put in the sink and the disposal.

Lye did not do its job ... I now dread tomorrow. And, I did not get the ceiling fan cleaned ... I may not get my yogurt and kefir made tomorrow or any of the other plans I had for the weekend if this pipe thing takes too long ... May have to go to the store for more lye ... :(

Damn. It's 105F!! I still have to go out and bring in all the towels off the line. I had to do another load of all the cleaning towels I used under the sink. I spilled a lot of water under there. I have the fan blowing on the shelf under there to make sure it really dries.

OK. Can I say I am really, really, really stupid? And, blind. Robin is a buck ... his balls have finally dropped. He was a late bloomer ... 3 months old on Wed. Caught him trying to get Sheree ... grrr. They are now in separate cages. She is faaaaar too small for him. Maybe she will start bulking up now. She eats a lot, but still feels skinny.

June 6, 2013

Another nice day. Although, I wouldn't call 94F all that nice, especially driving around in a hot car ... I only got 2 stores serviced and then went to the co-op. The bunnies are pigs! Needed more fresh produce for them, but got some food for us, too! A huge lamb roast. Can't wait to make that this weekend, and a few other things.
I came home and made some minty lemonade, cucumber/mint vitamin water and blueberry coconut popsicles. I'm not really thrilled with the popsicles because it also called for lemon juice. Now, you can use lemon juice to sour/curdle mammal milk ... well, it does the same thing to coconut milk ... so, it separated ... not too happy about that and it was hard to pour it into the forms. We'll see how it tastes in a few hours.

Well ... you know, I've owned and moderated a LOT of yahoogroups over the past 15 years. I've been a member of even more. It is a very rare thing when an owner even really participates in their own group. I always do as much as I'm able, as do my co-owners when I have them ... but, what really, really ticks me off is members who are so full of themselves as to assume they can run the group. Fine. Go start your own damn group and quit assuming you know the lives of the owners! What a way to ruin the rest of my day.

OK. Decision made. Dropping a ton of follows, etc. on Twitter, FB & G+. Only going to follow my interests. Only keeping about 4 people I know. You'll know who you are. All others. Gone. That will really empty out my timelines of everything other than foods, recipes, crafts and causes I'm interested in. Dropping people that stress me out. Might allow me time to actually get other things done around here! Ha!

Twitter dropped from 81 to 67 follows.
G+ dropped from 51 to 35!
Facebook dropped from 22 to 20 Friends (but most of those I eliminated their posts, so won't see most of them) and 89 down to 69 Likes. We'll see how much that thinning out helps. There will be more than likely be more dropped over the weekend.

OK. Just ate one of the popsicles. Eh. Next time I will make without the lemon juice. But they will be good on a hot day like we'll be having tomorrow & Sat. over 100F.

June 5, 2013

Ha. forgot to post this last night ...

It's been a pretty nice day. The temps were in the high 80s. I rode my bike around town and serviced 3 stores, and stopped at the police department. I had to look it up last night as I had no idea where it was these days. Big fancy building. Sure not the little one I remember as a kid. I wanted to double-check about whether I needed a license tag for the ebike. I don't. They said that it's not even required for regular bikes anymore and didn't realize it hadn't been removed from the website. And, I filed a report on my stolen bike. I really don't expect to get it back. Next week I'll be replacing Nikky's seatbelt harness. And, I'm going to search around for a new cart. One that will match the ebike - blue! I doubt I will replace the other bike, though. But, I WILL be making room in the shed for the cart before I even get it. I won't be keeping anything under the carport other than the old card table and folding chair that I sit at every evening to read.
Before I headed home this afternoon, I stopped at one of the parks near my last store and had my lunch. Watched some kids playing in the interactive water fountain. There was nothing like that around here when I was a kid! I don't think that park was even around! It's not far from where I grew up. Then I stopped and paid a bill. Got home about 3pm. Let the bunnies out to run around while I cleaned their cage. Sheree gets around pretty darn good on 3 legs. She sure is tiny, though. I worry about her. But, I am going to keep her in with Robin. Checked the wound on her side. She has a good layer of skin now. There is a really thick scab at one side of it, with a clump of hair, but it is not ready to come off. I barely tugged and it started bleeding a bit. So, I'll leave it until the weekend and then soak it really well. She is a little fighter. Now, Robin is a little shit! She wants to get behind everything when she is out. The loveseat, the TV, the dresser! After, the cage was clean and they were back in and fed, my mom starts complaining that her TV in her room is not working. Well, the cable is run from the doves' room, through the floor vent and into her room. The vent in the doves' room is under the dresser that Robin likes to get behind. She unhooked the cable connection! All fixed now.

One more day to work this week. I'm not working Friday. It's supposed to get to 105F or so ... ick. But, tomorrow, I'll be servicing 3 stores in Davis, stop at the co-op for some produce (the bunnies eat well!!) and then to the farm for milk and maybe some eggs.

June 3, 2013

Well. I got woke up at 2am AGAIN by Sheree screaming. Same yesterday morning. But, today she also woke me up at 6:45am (15 minutes before my alarm.) A bunny screaming is not something you mistake for something else. But, every time I run out to check, she is just sitting there like nothing is wrong! So, I don't know if it's pain, bad memory, nightmare, Robin playing rough or what!

I also woke up dizzy. Hasn't happened in a while. So, if it doesn't clear up by 9, when I would normally leave for work ... I'm not working today. Can't drive on the freeway.

Some very good news in our bank deposit this morning! I guess when we got the letter cutting my mom's Social Security and I took it down to her worker, I misunderstood something. Her SS is still cut, but she apparently did qualify for a different low-cost federal program to cover medical (Medi-Cal, Medicare or whatever they want to call it) so that she also got a separate deposit that made the total only .10c less than previous months! I can pay bills AND buy food!! Thank goodness!

Aand, my mom already is spending the money on other things ... I want to stop here. I want to stop there ... ugh.

So, we're having some bacon and then going to pay bills and get food. I can drive around town (stop and go) and over to Davis to the co-op as I won't be on the freeway.

It wasn't a bad day. We did pay bills and get groceries. But, my mom did spend too much at two other stores I didn't want to go to. So, I'm going to pay about ten dollars less on a bill tomorrow than I wanted to. Still above the minimum fee, but less than I like to pay ...

My mom wants to separate Robin and Sheree. I really don't. Sheree would be in a much smaller cage and when she is bigger, we may not be able to put them together again ... have to think about it. I'll decide Wednesday when I clean the cage.

June 2, 2013

Today's been a much calmer day than yesterday. Didn't really do much, but wasn't stressed, either. I've mainly been moving files around on my computers. Still trying to make more room for things and get them organized better so I can actually find things I've saved over the years! Going through a lot of old emails, too. Deleting stuff I will never need or use. Etc.!!!

Had a really good dinner of pancakes and spicy hot bacon!

I'm finalizing some things for a new yahoogroup. Yeah. Where should I put that new hole in my head!? It's going to be a file-sharing group. Closed membership. No archives/messages saved. Limited shares - probably 5 or 10 per member per day to allow time for people to get things downloaded completely. I have so many movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, ebooks, emagazines, etc. I'll probably open it next weekend. It'll just be friends and friends of friends. Pando, 4Shared, and a few other forms of file-sharing will be allowed. Some will not be allowed.

June 1, 2013

So, June is not off to a good start, at all. Someone stole my bike and cart from my carport overnight. I am beyond pissed. I put an ad on Craigslist and shared it everywhere. Doubt I will ever see them again. I am more pissed about the cart and Nikky's seatbelt than anything else. I was just getting her really used to being in it.

I'm still all fluttery inside. Can't seem to calm down. But, I need to go out and remove some other things from the carport and just not have anything out there any more ... Like I have room to put it all elsewhere ... Going to park the car up against the shed, so no one can get the door open even if they get the lock off. My ebike is in there. I had plans to move the other bike in there, too, but hadn't gotten to that ... Still too much stuff in there to do it.

It's supposed to be over 100°F today ... ick.

I am so damn depressed right now. I really need to cry. I feel a migraine trying to happen. I'm stressed ...

Going to get some no trespassing signs on Monday ... and, put up my old beware of dog signs on both gates ...

Great. Just broke an antique plate ... trying to get something to eat ...

OK. Having watermelon slice, baby Swiss cheese and rice crackers.

Gave Nikky a piece of watermelon rind. She liked it.

Need to get in gear. I did get the cages all cleaned and everyone fed this morning. Started the jerky in the dehydrator. And, a load of laundry washed and hanging on the line. Now, I need to get some postcards made!

Just have to keep saying. It's just a bike. My ebike is safe ...

But, I have to replace Nikky's seatbelt. And, the cart ... That will have to wait until later in the month, though ... or, maybe next month. Cash is so low this month since my mom's SS will be so low when she gets it on Monday. Barely enough to pay space rent and the loan payment ... Might have enough for the utility bill, but not sure yet.

Damn. OK. Postcards.

Took some extra Vit. D3 and some Nerve Tonic to try to calm and de-stress. Not really working yet. If I take some Valerian, I might go to sleep and it's way too early for that ...

OMG! The jerky turned out so good. Even Nikky liked it! I will definitely get that cut of beef again.

Great. My mom is adding to my stress ... this is so not a good day ... I really want to make things dead or seriously hurt things ...

I made a flyer for my bike. (And, used the image on a couple of postcards to mail to friends!) Put one out front. I'll take the others in the morning and put up near the office and mailboxes.
Doubt it will do any good ... :(

We had very hot wings for dinner. Nice and spicy. Also sliced heirloom tomatoes and sliced Persian cucumbers with Cowgirl Creamery Crème fraîche. And sliced watermelon. With raw milk. All organic. Was so good.

But, that was more than two hours ago! I'm snacking on jerky now. ;)
And, yes. I am feeling a bit better. This is only about the 3rd time I've had anything stolen (the other 2 times involved my old Honda car and its license tag stickers when we lived at the horrid apartment.) I am just not the type that can handle such things well. I'm still fluttery inside. But, I've accepted that I will not get them back. I'll still leave the flyers up for a while.

And, no. I didn't call the cops to report it. The stupid thing is, I didn't have that bike licensed (I am taking my ebike down to license when I get my oil check.) With all the research I did on the ebike, I didn't find anything about licenses for Woodland. Today, when I researched who to call about stolen bikes, I found a section under the city PD about licensing bikes! Ugh. And, I remember when I was a teenager taking my first adult-sized bike to get it licensed! So, that part is my fault ... oh, well ...
