 My eyeballs are cold .. It's only 48°F in my kitchen. 42°F outside ... The chickens are going to have to wait for their breakfast until 9, until the weather warms up again. I normally feed everyone at 7. Too cold to go out so early, so just the cat and dogs will be fed at 7, now. I'm such a meanie ...

Not too much I want to do today.

 

Chickens fed. Laundry started. Burn some old rags.

 10am

Two water bowls soaking in vinegar. Searching recipes for something I want to bake. Laundry on line.

11am

Baking butter cake. The recipe is from a Depression-era Watkins cookbook from the '30s or '40s. Not sure exact year, as several pages are missing.

Noon

Organic hot dog on a buttered English muffin for lunch. And, a slice of butter cake.

I'll have to remember to cover this cake if I make it again. I just have an upper and a lower rack in my countertop oven. So, things get done quicker at the top ... maybe just put it on the lower rack all the way through. I moved it to the lower rack about half-way through the baking, but it was too late to prevent the burnt top. Good thing is that the chickens won't mind!

Vacuumed and steam-mopped the kitchen floor.

3pm

Fed the chickies. They were all over the piece of cake I gave them, with their usual food. Brought in laundry and put away.

Need to thaw out some veggies to feed the chickies tomorrow.

I didn't get out to clean inside the car. Will do that another day. My fingers are really hurting. Still need to do some dishes for 15 minutes. Need to do that before I doctor my fingers.

Hot chocolate for me ...

Counter push-ups/leg stretches/balance exercises.

Ha! I guess I'm a pessimist! I'm always complaining about the wind here!
