August 31, 2014

Well, despite doing something to my bad shoulder, I did get some painting done. It wasn't easy, since I can't move my arm forward or sideways. If I could paint backwards, it would've been fine! Ha! It feels like the tip of the clavicle is pinching a nerve in front of my coracoid (tip of the shoulder) or possibly one of the ligaments is tearing ... Fun! Just like when I tore the rotator cuff, I hadn't even been doing anything when it happened! Anyway, the front eave trim is done, but I can't reach all of the awning front trim. That will have to wait until I get on the roof later on.

I met the neighbors' bunnies this morning. Oreo (black and white Dutch doe) and Dakota (broken Harlequin Rex buck.) The buck is gorgeous! They will be having babies in a month ... Martin didn't know not to pen them together! Ugh. I may end up with at least some of them. Their dogs have already been trying to get into the pen ...

I've had my rabbits out on the deck all day. It's still nice out there. But, it is now 88°F, so I'll bring them in after I finish my smoothie.

Nikky and Ezra both love dried lamb lungs! It's hard to find a good variety of organs for them to try. I've contacted the company that makes them to find out if they are freeze-dried or dehydrated. It doesn't say on the package or on their website.

Now ... both shoulders are hurting! I have no idea what I did to cause this ... annoying.

There are a lot of flakes on FreeCycle. Waiting for someone to pick up the hamster wheel that came with Damian. I don't like it, so getting rid of it. But, it's nearly 3 and no-show, so far. This happened with some other stuff last week, too. I ended up just taking to GoodWill ... :(

August 30, 2014

Whew! All the cleaning is done. Clean cages, fresh food, birds and hamsters exercised (still need to let the rabbits out later), and plastic sheeting replaced under the rabbit cages (Ezra put holes in the other ...)

Having a yummy smoothie - Salted Caramel Thickshake. It's the third one down on that page. I doubled the recipe. I may try another on that page tomorrow! My blender is starting to make noises ... I've about worn it out, I think! May have to start using the Cuisenart as a blender for a while, until I can get a new one. Hmmm. I might put out an ISO on FreeCycle. That's how I got rid of my other one years ago (It didn't have a lot of power to make my smoothies ...)

The neighbors got rabbits. Looks like a Dutch and not sure on the other. Can't see that far. They have them in a big harvester/traveling pen on the grass. They have about the biggest yard of anyone in this park. Hope they don't dig out and the neighborhood dogs/cats don't get to them. I sure wouldn't leave mine outside unsupervised around here ...

My mom got the kitchen door and the living room door painted gray the past two mornings. Tomorrow, she'll start on the red accents. We don't use either of those doors. I need to cover the glass for her later, so paint won't get on them.

Tomorrow, I'll be painting on the eave trim. Monday, too. Then, Monday night Zihna and Damian will be bred. I need to get the breeding tank set up for them. I need to shred more paper first!

I just fixed my mom's old sphygmomanometer (aka blood pressure monitor) and then tested myself. Haven't done that in YEARS. Still nice and low. 96/63 and pulse of 61. I've always had low pressure ...

WooHoo! I just picked up a free Grow-Light. New in the unopened box, through FreeCycle. We just might get some seeds to sprout in here, now!

Whhhoooo. My mom just mixed up some sauce for chicken wings and made me taste it. My mouth is on fire! Good stuff.

It's too damn hot outside to work! But, my mom is bugging me to put the blue tape around the door accents and paper the door windows ... it's 98°F! Ugh.

Still dealing with the remnants of a migraine. I had to work yesterday, due to 2 stores that had special projects, even though I should not have been driving ... ugh. So, I took today off to hopefully get rid of it. Starting to finally feel less pain.

Going through old emails and reading articles I missed and watching some videos I missed. Finding lots of good quotes, too.

Finally feeling better. Just got everyone to bed. Kayla ran around for a while when I was changing bedding and filling dinner bowls. Ezra was supervising but got tired of the baby chasing him!

August 24, 2014

Well, I've been up since about 3:20 this morning. Why? Earthquake ... epicenter was less than 50 miles west of me, near American Canyon/Vallejo. Shook my wardrobe and rattled its doors and my closet doors and made the floor feel like it was rolling. It was a biggie - 6.1. No reports of major damage, yet, thank goodness.
Can't go back to sleep, but I'm very tired. I don't think I'll be setting up the yard sale today ... and, I have a headache. :/

Reports are finally coming in about damages. Gas main fires causing some major fires in some homes/mobile homes, etc. Building collapses, buckled roads, etc. Mostly reports in the Napa area, so far. My mom has FauxNews on and they are not the best source ...

Really feeling crappy today. Feel like I'm trying to get a migraine. :(

Whew! Got all the yard sale stuff sorted and re-packed in bins. All the tables are folded up and put away. Sheets that were used as tablecloths are about to go in the dryer. And, filled my trunk with stuff I don't want to sell online and will take to GoodWill tomorrow. But, I still have too much stuff. I did make a little dent, though.

I still have a bad headache. Taking feverfew, so hope it will help. I have a tincture that I will be drinking in water all day.

I have a bunch of books I am listing and re-listing everywhere. Lots of scanning and pic-uploading to do.

Starting the second load of laundry.

OMG! I just made a really good Chocolate Banana milkshake. Of course, I used raw milk instead of almond milk and almond/hazelnut butter in place of peanut butter. It is soooo yummy!

August 23, 2014

What a long day, already. I got up at 6, so I could get everything set out for the annual yard sale.

Will do the same tomorrow. I made $22! Not bad really. Previous years I never made that much. Closed up around noon. My mom made salads for lunch. Then, it was time to clean cages. Now, that's all done. I hate doing them in the afternoon when I'm already hot and tired. I let the rabbits run around in the Critter Room and kitchen as each of their cages were done. This was Kayla's first time running around the room. She had fun. I didn't get pictures, though. Next week I will.

Yummy dinner. Llano Seco Argentine-Inspired Sausage, scrambled eggs, nectarines with cinnamon, raw milk with potato starch.

August 22, 2014

Busy morning. I rode my bike to the mailbox (sans battery! haha!) Getting ready for the yearly yard sale this weekend. My mom and I cleaned the driveway (she swept, I pulled spotted spurge weeds that the critters can't eat.) I set up all my tables. I finished pricing all the stuff and piled it in the laundry room hallway. I just finished advertising in the local selling groups I'm in.

Cleaning the washing machine finally! I used the homemade soft scrub I made last month for the inside of the lid and the lip of the tub. Worked great. Now, I am using this recipe: Washing Machine Cleaning Recipe
I have it soaking right now. Hope it gets some of the crud off! When you have at least one load EVERY day of pet blankets, it gets really bad! And, I keep telling my mom to leave the lid open so it won't get smelly, but she's always closing it! I used tea tree oil. I can't do eucalyptus ...

That recipe did pretty well for the washing machine. Got the smell out. I'll have to do that regularly. Maybe once a month.

August 20, 2014

I am tired! Just finished cleaning cages and feeding all the critters. Took some extra time as I let the doves out to fly, and then let the hamsters roll in the ball while each of their tanks were scrubbed. I don't think Damian's had ever been scrubbed! Ick. They all have nice, clean, shredded paper, now.

Still need to feed the hummers and scrub the birdbath outside.

Smoothie for lunch!! Mixed berries & banana raw milk smoothie. I also put in raw cacao, hemp seeds, raw maca powder, cinnamon, maple syrup, molasses, gelatin and cashew butter. SOOO good!

Well, I got everything done except the birdbath that I'd planned today.

Dinner was broiled ground lamb wrapped in bacon; salad; raw milk with potato starch.

August 19, 2014

It's been a busy couple of days. But, I'm off tomorrow to clean cages.

I have added another new store to my route next month. It is in ARBUCKLE! So, I will be getting mileage for it, since it is about 33 miles away from me! But, sadly, one of my local stores is closing, so I have to close out the display next week. And, at the beginning of next month I am helping out at a store in Vacaville that has a humungous display. There will be 3 of us working on it and then the same chain store in Dixon will also be done and my manager and another rep will help me. Busy, busy.

I twisted my hip yesterday and it is really bothering me. I can't sit comfortably and walking is painful. I've done this before, but it's been quite a while. Feels like the joint wants to slip.

I had a problem with my IncrediMail program the other day and had to re-install it. Apparently, it did not completely install because my Letter Creator will not open. I haven't been in the mood to make any stationery in ages. So, of course, I am in the mood and can't! Ugh. I'll have to try to fix it this weekend. Or, use the one on my laptop ...

Baby dove #1 is getting HUGE! Barely fits under the parents now! They grow so quickly! Speaking of growing babies. Cassia has grown in the past week and so has Kayla! And, Kayla had banana for lunch. My mom gave her a HALF! Way too much. She ate about 3/4 of that and her little side was poking out, her stomach was so full! She also has a tiny irritation in the corner of her eye. If it is still there in the morning, I'll put some coconut oil on it.

OMG! The Perception cliff-hanger was such a surprise! I can't wait until February!!!!

August 17, 2014

Sadly, hatchling #2 didn't make it. The parents squished it. But, #1 is doing really well.
They look so sweet. This is before I lifted Little Girl off the nest and found the body!
Look at that fat gullet! #1 is doing really well.
I got a little painting done. Not as much as I'd wanted to do, but it was windy up there and drying the paint too quickly. Annoying! Plus, my ladder is not tall enough to do the carport trim! I'm going to have to do some thinking about how I'm going to get that done. I was able to get a small part of it done as far as I could reach ... I may have to lay on top of the carport to do the rest as I have to get on the roof to paint the flashing that joins the carport to the roof, anyway. No one painted it when it was done before and it is still the original dark brown color! Looks awful.

Made more hummingbird food. Damn ants keep drinking it all! :/

My mom is transplanting all of her cactus & succulents AGAIN ... More will probably die ... So, now she wants to plant bulbs in the big brick box ... That's what we had in there to begin with (and never got them all out when she wanted to put the cacti in there, but couldn't find them all!) Annoying.

Getting some things priced for the big yard sale next weekend. It's the big one the park allows every year. A month later than usual, though. I've got sooo much stuff.

Almost forgot to post dinner. It was good. Scrambled eggs, Llano Seco Argentine-inspired sausage, apple with almond hazelnut butter, raw milk with potato starch.

Cages and cleaning done! Hatchling #2 finished pipping at 8:30 this morning. Both look good.
Both parents in the nest with the kids.
Just got a message that my new hamster has been transferred to his transportation. So, I'll be seeing him tonight, as scheduled.

Damian has arrived! He's pretty! Broken Banded Black-eyed Cream Teddy (possibly Angora ...) I'm leaving his sawdust bedding until Wednesday cleaning day. He won't have to have that again. With his long hair, that is not a good bedding. He's got a lot of tangles I need to comb out.
Nikky is enthralled!
He's very active.
Don't know why he has cotton in his bedding ... odd.
Real food!
I spilled milk in my keyboard ... messy. Have to take it apart now ...

August 15, 2014

Oh, well, I guess the name theme for the hamster won't work, after all. My mom wants to name the boy Damian! Not a bad name, actually ... So, Cassia will stay Cassia. Zihna keeps her name. And, Hiawatha will go on the back-burner as a name.

Long day ahead. Stores in Sacramento, Davis and Woodland that I hope to get done today.

We have a new hatchling! Big Boy & Little Girl hatched a chick today. The other should hatch by tomorrow. Little Boy and Squabbie are also setting 2 eggs! Theirs' should hatch in about 10 days.
Big Boy is such a good daddy.

August 14, 2014

It's been such a long day. And, I only got one store done! But, I got milk from the farm, the shopping done and met the gal that will be getting my hamster from Redding. He'll be home by Saturday night! Yay! Now, to think of a name. I'm not calling him Hammy!

I found the perfect name for the hamster. Hiawatha! It is Iroquoian for 'he who combs'! And, with all the long hair, he will be combing it a lot (or I will! ha!) And, I've changed the spelling on Cassia's name to Kasa. It is Hopi for 'dressed in furs.' It fits the theme started with Zihna, which is Hopi for 'spins' or 'spinning'. Like spinning hair for yarn. And, they all have long-hair Teddy genes.
Hamster breeding will start on September 1.

August 13, 2014

I am so tired. I've been getting woke up early for over a month ... My mom is so noisy. 'oh, did I wake you up?' No duh ... It's starting to get to me.

But, at least I am home today. Almost time to start on the cages. I already have the boys and Kayla out on the deck.

And, I have to figure out something for the hamsters' water. Both Zihna and Cassia pulled their new bottles down and half their bedding is soaked. It's good I'm cleaning today!

Ugh. We've got tooooo much STUFF! Just did some more rearranging. I think my office is good, now. I have room in the Critters' Room now for the new hamster when he arrives next week and to set up the old puppy playpen for the other rabbit when I decide on one. Hopefully, by the end of the month. That will be all the animals coming in until births start.

I need to research critter-safe spray paint. I have 4 cages I want to paint, but can't until I am sure the coating is safe enough if they chew the bars ...

Huh. Found some good answers for the cage-painting. Rust-O-Leum or marine-grade paint for above the waterline. Now, to decide on colors. I think we'll most likely go with white.

Loong day tomorrow. Gotta go to the farm for milk. Then, four stores to service. I also have to meet the gal that is going to pick up the hamster in Redding for me.

Yay! The gal that I'm meeting messaged me and says she will be going up for the hamster on Saturday!
