August 14, 2015

I got some last pictures of Tetra (that's what my mom was calling her) before her new people came to get her. Just have her 2 brothers left to sell.
She's going to be a house bunny and they are hoping to litter box train her. :)

Sadly, or finally, the last fish died today. NO MORE FISH! It was a raspbora and lived far longer than expected. Around five years!! Now, I can sell all the fish stuff and either sell the aquariums or make them into planters!

Ezra has been playing in the cupboard ... pics are fuzzy - not sure why ...

August 10, 2015

I can't wait to get started on my sewing. Of course, I have a few other things I have to get done today, too ... put the bin back under the house that I used on Saturday for one of the bunnies to travel in the car; make sun tea; make hummingbird food, fill bird bath, water the mix of seeds I planted out back ... and, probably more things ...

Well, I got nearly everything done that I had planned ... except the hummingbird feeders and one of the footstools ... Here is the footstool that I did get done:
The footstools I want to re-cover.
Denim and upholstery fabric cut into 6-inch squares.
Ready to nail the new cover on.
Done! I played around with the denim and used both sides for a different look.
Nikky had to check it out.
I also made spicy tomato sauce today because my mom said she couldn't figure out the blender ... :/ More like she really didn't want to do it ... I added some tiny jalapeƱo peppers from the garden, too.
And, I baked the squash seeds, from the spaghetti squash we had last night, with Italian seasoning and butter. Crunchy snack.

So, I didn't get the other footstool cover done. I did get the top re-stuffed, though. I slit some of the stitches and packed in more stuffing and re-sewed it. I'll finish it next week.

August 9, 2015

I got home from my walk a little bit ago. I stopped at GoodWill before I came home. Found some nice fabric, and more latch hook kits and extra latch hook yarn for my mom. I found a pretty upholstery piece that I am going to patchwork with some denim I got there the other day. It will be the new cover for the footstool my mom got there. And, I might also re-cover another footstool we have to match. I need to go through my other fabrics and see if I have a matching solid color I can make some piping/edging with.

Not working tomorrow, so I'll be sewing! Hopefully, this will really get me back into it and start making things to sell! I really need to!!!

August 8, 2015

I sold a bunny! This morning was the small animal sale that I go to nearly every month at Yellow Rose Ranch. It has moved to Lincoln (was in Orangevale before) and is a 90-minute drive for me, but it is nice to get out there. Love and miss having farm animals. The gal who runs the sale on her ranch has 5 boys and her youngest (9 years old) bought one of my rabbits. He bought the little mismarked Dutch buck. So, I still have 3 bunnies left and a dove that didn't sell this time. Helped one of the other boys catch one of the male Muscovy ducks. Been a while since I did that! I got muddy, but it was fun. And, I fed one of my carrots to her billy goat (Alpine) before I started packing up for the day. It was a nice day. Wish I had taken some pictures! I had the camera with me, but never took it out of the bag! Ugh! Maybe I'll remember next month! As Lincoln is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, there are some really cool, unusual rock formations on the ranch I want to take pics of next time.

Once I got home and unloaded the car and got the critters settled back in, the damn pain in my back and shoulder started back up ... It's been going on for about 2 months now and not letting up ... I may have to do another elimination test of foods like I did a few years ago. There is something causing inflammation to some old injuries. I think I am taking too much willow bark and arnica right now, because of the pain. Luckily, they don't have the side effects of tylenol and aspirin that made me really sick in the past. But, I don't want to keep relying on them. So, I've got to take the time to research this problem and eliminate the pain. It all started a couple of months ago when I tripped on Nikky and fell against the fridge (hard) to avoid stomping/falling on her. That twisted my hip and I pretty much fell apart from there. So, now, everything hurts. But, the initial injury does not hurt. It healed. It's just all the adjusting/limping, etc., irritated other areas in the meantime and something I've been eating /not eating is causing the continued inflammation.

Tomorrow is cage-cleaning day and then my weekly walk. I might go to GoodWill after that if I'm not to tired and it's not too hot.
Every part of this country is sacred to my people. Every hillside, every valley, every plain and grove has been hallowed by some fond memory or some sad experience of my tribe. Even the rocks, which seem to lie dumb as they swelter in the sun along the silent shore in solemn grandeur, thrill with memories of past events connected with the fate of my people.

August 5, 2015

Busy day cleaning and rearranging cages. I had to get those little bucks separated from their mama and sister. So, Sheriff has a new temporary cage which was Nikky's room. She has a new room - the crate I got at GoodWill. I'm not sure Sheri likes his cage ... he burrowed under his blanket and dumped all of his hay out.
I got ALL of our seeds planted for the year! haha! I emptied every seed packet and jar into a bowl and mixed them together then spread them all out along the back fence. There are carrots, marigolds, basil, tomatoes, watermelon, cantalope, peppers, cucumbers, sunflowers, mixed wildflowers, and many more! Whatever comes up, that will be great and if they don't ... oh, well. We will be starting with fresh seeds next year.

August 3, 2015

I am wore out. Took my mom shopping and paid bills.
Went to GoodWill last and found some good bargains. She got some new (to her) mumu dresses, I found a new wire crate for Nikky (the one she is using will become another rabbit cage, which it has done in the past), I got more king and queen-sized flat sheets for under the rabbit cages, some sewing patterns, several packs of latch hook yarn, some denim fabric and a footstool I'm going to re-cover for my mom. All for less than $60.00.

Sold another puzzle on eBay! Yay! Need to get some more listed this week.

Organic apple, raw cream, cashew butter and cinnamon. Mmmmm.

Nikky's new room. Just finished scrubbing it and it's ready to go in the bedroom. She'll move in on Wednesday, after her bedding gets washed. The cage is in excellent, like new, condition. It was just really dusty. Paid only $6.99 for it! It folds down to a thin 'suitcase'.

August 2, 2015

Kind of disappointed. No one showed up for bunnies ... oh, well. But, I have about 6-8 more weeks before they go in the freezer. So, there is time.

Trying to decide if I want to go to the craft circle today ... Not really in the mood ... I think it is the air around here affecting me. It was really unhealthy yesterday. The smoke from all the wildfires has settled down here in the Valley again. It's very hazy and the sunrise this morning was red ... I didn't leave the rabbits on the deck very long this morning. Got them back inside as soon as I could when I was cleaning cages. Closed the house up and turned the air on by 11. Which is a shame as it wasn't very hot, yet.

Making tomato sauce - fresh! I used this recipe - Blender Tomato Sauce
I have searched through our local animal laws and cannot find a requirement for cats to get a rabies vax  ... so, Ezra will no longer be getting one. He never goes outside (except to get the rabies shot every year!!!) and never will. He was due this weekend. So, Nikky is now the only one required by law to get poison injected into her. I wish that titers were allowed instead, but they are not allowed here. Maybe someday.

I need to separate the boy bunnies from Patty and the little girl ... no extra cages, so I'm going to have to go under the house tomorrow and get a couple of bins out from under there to use as temporary cages for them. I have about 20 bins under there.

I should go to the mailbox - I know I got a shipment from Sherwood Forest for the rabbits ... still don't know if I'm going to the craft circle ... my back is bothering me ... so ... I guess I'll stay home ... I do have to go to the co-op tomorrow, though. Shopping and paying bills tomorrow ...

Neighbor Martin is finally putting up a fence ... and, it blocks mine! So, I will pull mine up, I guess, or it will be impossible to get to the weeds between them ... grrr. Wish he'd talked to me about it ... the last time he mentioned it, he was going to start it where mine ended ... oh, well ... I will use my fence panels as part of the railing for the deck when I replace it.

Great. My mom chipped a big section of enamel off the kitchen sink, by the drain. She dropped the crockpot. Luckily, it didn't break.

Made chocolate bars earlier, using ice cube tray. My mom wanted her rice cake crumbs on some of them.
This is the big fire around here now that the Wragg Fire is almost completely contained. It's the Rocky Fire, about 35 miles northwest of me (Woodland.) Almost 50,000 acres ... huge!
It is a wonderful 76°F outside ... It's 90°FFFFFF inside!!!!! WTF!! I'm melting.

August 1, 2015

You know, you'd think that the simple way to keep a cat out of your room and not drag your things out around the house would be to close the door. Noooooo. Apparently, you are supposed to leave the door open, yell and gripe about the cat taking your things, stomp around like a two-year-old and go to your room while slamming the door closed ... Yeah, I know ... Is that circular logic? ... :/  Hmmmm.

Anyway ... I got the bunnies listed on various sites and have several nibbles already. So, I might have at least one of them sold tomorrow. We'll see! They are 8 weeks old today.

This day has flown by, it seems. Fed Nikky and the rabbits their lunches 2 hours late! :?

Going to breed Parker and Robin tomorrow. Parker is 8 months old, now. Hard to believe!

Won't be going on my walk tomorrow, most likely. Still waiting on one of the bunny buyers to get back to me on a time to meet ... oh, well ... But, I hope to go to my craft circle in the evening.

I need some raw chocolate milk and then I'm going to finish this puzzle I've been working on all week.

I didn't get the seeds planted ... :(

Finished another puzzle. This is one that is for sale. Just making sure all the pieces are there.
