November 29, 2015

Yep! It's another installment of BUNNY PICS! hahahaha! It seems like all I feel like talking about is bunnies these days ... these little guys are 12 days old. Eyes are opening.
I finally made a new cover for my wrist rest on my keyboard drawer. I just cut some fabric and hot-glued it on. Then, screwed the board back in place. It was originally covered in black paper, but it wore off. Hope this lasts for a while.

November 25, 2015

I got a new nursery cage and nest box for the rabbits today! I like it. It is 30x30. Although, I found out after I got it that this company also makes a 36x30! Wish I'd known that before I got this one ... but, I will save up and get it next year. I've moved Kayla and her babies into it. She seems content with it. The bunnies are 8 days old!

November 22, 2015

Just finished cleaning cages and vacuuming. Resting now, before I start on cleaning the deck and coop. We got our first unbroken egg from Rachel!! She laid it in the old garbage can that has a tomato plant in it! Not in the darn coop! But, at least it's whole.

The runt - Magpie?
The moose - this one might be a Magpie
Japanese Harlequin-marked

Only one day of work next week - two stores. Then, off for the holidays, until Monday - Nov. 30. I hope to get the wheels put on Rachel's coop on Tuesday.

November 21, 2015

It's been so hectic lately, that I haven't posted anything on my blog. I have taken some picture, though. So, here they are!
Ezra decided to help me fold the rabbits' blankets the other day.
The 3 does from the last litter (Parker/Robin) - someone may be interested in one and may come tomorrow to see them. After that ... they are Thanksgiving dinner.
These 4 babies were born Tuesday night, so I didn't get pictures until the next morning. There will be more pics tomorrow. They are a Kayla/Sheriff litter. At least one of the Harlequin marked is a Magpie!!! In Harlequins, the orange/black is called Japanese, the white/black is called Magpie. If it's a doe, I may be tempted to keep her!
Here are a bunch of random shots I took to share on FaceBook - I follow several vintage pages/groups and when something pops up that I have, I share mine, too.
My walker and Jolly Green Giant footprint rug - both circa 1963.
Me in my walker in 1964.
King Edward Imperial cigar box
Silver Collapsible Cyclist's Cup - close to 100 years old
Jewelry box - still works! Plays Love is a Many Splendored Thing. It also has a matching Pagoda-style jewelry cabinet. They were my mom's, so are at least 52 years old.
Sully and Elijah. My greyhound and rooster who I used to take to nursing homes to visit when I lived in Florida. 1995.
Elijah was a ham and always a hit when he visited. He would crow on command.
I'm almost finished with Rachel's coop. I finally got the wood strips attached to frame the wire this morning - to prevent snagging on the edges. I still need to install a perch and a removable door sill. I also bought 2 ceramic eggs to, hopefully, get her to nest in there and to stop eating her eggs! We have not gotten one egg from her, yet - just the remains ... She has a lot of bad habits from her previous home that I hope to break before spring. If not ... stew ...

November 9, 2015

7 am
Still not feeling up-to-par, today. But, I gotta work. Still coughing a bit.
Yesterday, I got most of Rachel's coop finished. Need to get her a perch to roost on, though. And, a few finishing touches to the wire edge.
I hate work, sometimes ...

I can't believe the mess in my critter room when I got home! My mom shoved two of the rabbit cages off to the side so she could put up the big cage because Rachel got soaked in the rain outside. What the hell do you think her coop is for!? So, I made her put her back outside. Of course, I had to clean up the mess in the middle of the critter room and move the cages back where they belong! GAAAAH!

And, I finished making the bone broth. Twelve pints!

Need some hot chocolate!

November 7, 2015

It's going to be a long day ... more work on the drainline. I'm going to open up the connection to the main line and work back towards my mom's bathroom. The other end of the line is clear for 40 feet, so it has to be at her end of the trailer. At least I shouldn't have to go under the house again ...

After I get that cleared, I'm going to JoAnn's craft store and get the supplies I need to make presents.

Finished my first present. I really like how they turned out. I will be making another set with red ticking fabric for another present. This is the site where I got the idea:

Ha! Forgot to post this yesterday ...

I haven't been sick in a while ... but, I am now ... so, I stayed home from work ... I have congested lungs ... it's been coming on for a while. I started taking oregano oil caps a bit over a month ago and it has been working some old crap out of my lungs the past couple of weeks. It's finally worked up into my bronchial area, so hacking up lots of crap. Plus, I am allergic to some of the hay I bought last month for the rabbits. Thank goodness that bunch is almost gone! The rabbits love it, but I get hives on my hands when I touch it! Only lasts a few minutes until I wash my hands, but annnnnnoying! And, it makes me sneeze!

Started a batch of bone broth this morning.

Found all the wool felt my aunt Jeanne had and am going to make a few stuffed ninnis (one for a swap) to, hopefully, sell. Probably a Santa, elf and Rudolph ... maybe ... we'll see if they come out the way I want.

Rachel has decided she doesn't like Nikky ... whenever Nikky goes out to potty, Rachel pecks her on the butt or on the head!

Resurrecting my kombucha!

Listed a couple of vintage wine books:
The Great Book Of Wine by Edita Lausanne - 1971
Wines of the World by André L. Simon - 1967

Switched the direction on all the ceiling fans for winter. Hope it helps bring the warmer air down to our level.

Spent the past few hours sorting through fabrics and craft supplies to see what I need to make a few Christmas gifts. Very few things I need to buy tomorrow & I have JoAnn's coupons for all of them - discounts! Nearly all my gifts will be handmade this year. I have a list of 9 people I'm making things for ... a couple of them are getting some small store-bought extras, though.

November 1, 2015

Wow. Where did October go!? It was a crazy, busy month.

Here's a pic of Rachel in her favorite spot. I thought she had got out of her new yard the other day and hunted all over for her. I found her under the cherry tomato plants, behind the shed. She still hasn't laid any eggs, yet ... :/
I've sold all three buck bunnies. Thought I had someone interested in the 3 does, but maybe not.

It rained all morning. That was a nice change! Still might get more.

I finally found a good sieve for separating my kefir grains. Worked great. And, quick! My other strainer took ages to drain the kefir out. So, I just made 4 pints of strawberry/vanilla kefir for a second ferment.

Sadly, I had to throw out my last batch of kombucha! First time I've gotten mold on the SCOBY! So, everything is going to be scrubbed and I'll have to get another SCOBY out of storage (SCOBY hotel) tomorrow.

Ugh. I hate this time change crap. I've been out-of-sorts all day and took longer than usual to get the cages cleaned this morning. Missed my walk in the park ... and, my mom kept bugging me to do more things than I had planned ... missed craft circle again! Now, I have to get Rachel and put her to bed an hour earlier than she was getting used to, before it gets dark.
