Oops ... forgot to send this yesterday ...

I just got back from a relaxing bike ride. It has been MONTHS since I rode my electric bike. I had to top off the charge on the batteries and air up the tires before I left. I hope to ride every Saturday morning this summer. I went to the post office, then the farmer's market and then the Grocery Outlet. I got another birthday gift from the same vendor as last week, carrots for the bunnies, gluten-free brownie for me and cherries for dessert tonight. Yummy! Nikky acts like I've been gone FOREVER! :)

Time to go clean the dog yard and after lunch I hope to give Gypsy a haircut and bath.

ARRGGH! I just want to scream! I really need to try to get some real grooming clippers. The cheap crappy set from WalMart I bought quickly last year, the day I got Gypsy, is just useless!!! A one, maybe 2, hour grooming session took nearly 4 hours!!! And, she looks like a moth-eaten reject! I felt like I was just pulling her hair out by the roots. Wish I still had all my old grooming equipment ... but, I had to sell all of it but my trusty grooming table, my scissors, brushes and combs when we moved back to California in 2000 ... I had 3 high-end clippers and about 25 different blades and a really versatile blow dryer back when I was a real groomer ... Miss that ... Anyway, Gypsy was a real trooper through the ordeal. I groomed her out on the deck. I gave her a modified puppy cut, but it looks awful to me ... Maybe she will look better once she is dry. She got a nice cool bath (with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile soap) out on the patio to cool her (and me) off.

She's hanging out in the bathroom now and Nikky is jealous because she didn't get a bath.
I have a Cocker Spaniel with jaws like the proverbial 'pit bull' ... I don't know where she found it, but she had one of those little black plastic roach/ant motel types of things in her mouth. I have no idea where she found it, I thought I got rid of all those ages ago! She would NOT let go of it! I finally had to scruff her and and squeeze her nose for her to drop it! Now she is pouting in the other room. I think she thought she was bringing me a present ... :/

May 22, 2017

Early day today. I got through 2 stores quickly today, hoping I'd get out to the Monsanto protest here in town. If you don't know (and I didn't until very recently), Monsanto's largest operation in the WORLD is HERE in little old Woodland!!!! Well, I drove by and no one was there! The no parking signs were still up along the road and a few other things, but no protesters. So, I get home and check the FB page and they are protesting at the jail! Ugh. A few were arrested and the rest are outside with their signs until they are released ... Arrests for a peaceful protest. :( Monsanto is desperate ...

It is already getting too hot and it isn't even noon ...

I found out 11 protesters were arrested and 6 have been released so far - 1pm.

Don't forget to check out my sales items - today from Bonanza! Tell your friends!
Vintage Silver Rosary with bag
I finally got my butt moving and rounded up all of the items I have for sale on Bonanza and put them in one area. I still haven't found the magazines I had sold the other day and had to refund ... no idea where they are.
Shit. It's 100 frickin' degrees! 3:45pm! It's definitely going to be a bad summer ...

May 21, 2017

It's been a fairly nice day, other than getting in the 90s and making me turn on the A/C! I suspect it's going to be a scorcher this summer ... :(
I got my camera to work again. Not sure what was wrong with it yesterday or what I really did to fix it ... I just plugged it into the computer to see if it would show up and then it was fine! Maybe something had to reset ... I'll never know. But, I was able to take a few pictures of the veggies we have growing on the deck and the rails to the front steps that I painted the other day and remounted on the steps.
Lemon cucumber that I bought yesterday.
Radishes are coming up.
Terrible shot. I need to get a better angle than from above! The formerly white rails are now totally black. I painted the base to match the stairs and used black bolts to accent.
I made a sale from my Bonanza shop yesterday - 3 vintage glass craft magazines ... but, I just refunded the payment. I can't find the damn magazines that were sold. They are not in my sale cabinet, or any of the shelves, dresser drawers, bins ... I have no idea where they went ... I really need to sit down and go through everything and make sure everything listed is actually still in the cabinet! Ugh. I have to do that before I list anything else. Frustrating.

Gah! 97 degrees at 4:30 ...

Gypsy needs another haircut, badly! I may have to put her in a puppy cut, rather than my favored show cut. There will be too much hair for this heat on the old girl.

May 20, 2017 - March Against Monsanto

Wow, I haven't written in this blog since February ... I got annoyed because I can't figure out why my posts stopped sending me an email that I could forward to my Yahoo Group which it has fairly reliably done for years ... we'll see if this one works ...
Well, it has been an interesting day and this will be a picture-heavy post at the end. It's a day I've been kind of looking forward to for a year, since I missed the last one! I joined the March Against Monsanto in Sacramento! It was a fairly good turn-out, but the organizers were a bit un-organized (they admitted) due to a couple of leaders not being able to help this year ...
So, my day started out around 9:30 this morning when I headed for the local farmer's market! I lucked out and found a very healthy lemon cucumber plant that I wanted. Already has 2 long vines and some baby cukes on it! I also found a cute birthday present for someone special that's coming up in a few weeks. And, some carrots for my bunnies. And, a gluten-free brownie for me. Then, since the farmer's market is on the grounds of the library ... I went in and renewed my card. After that, it was off to fight the traffic to Sacramento. It was horrible! Found a parking spot in a residential area about 6 blocks from the capitol and walked to the meeting spot on the West Steps of the Capitol building. After the speeches and some music, the March headed to the Sacramento Convention Center where the California Democrats State Convention is being held. There was even a politician marching with us, but I didn't catch his name ...
I'm a little disappointed that no one mentioned that glyphosate (main ingredient in Round-Up, made by Monsanto) has been found in vaccines ... but, I'm not quite brave enough to speak in front of crowds ... yet ...
I snagged this pic of me from one of the videos that was taken, which you 'might' be able to see here: I'm in it at various times, just standing around with my backpack and my sign. ;)
Of course, my camera decided to have errors and I couldn't get it to work. So, I had to use the camera on my little flip phone and it's crap. And, it cost me 200 minutes to send them to the computer (you can't just hook it to the computer and transfer them ...) Now, I have to figure out what is wrong with the camera ...
When I came home, I had to soak my feet - Epsom salt and tea tree oil did the trick. I don't think I'll have any blisters, but it sure did feel like I would when I was walking back to my car!
Front and back of my sign.
Cute little honey bee.
I think this was the best one.
